1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce Alfa Romeo produced the round tail for the US market only for two years, 1967 and 1969. This 1969 1750 Spider Veloce is a very good solid car. It has an older restoration and is still a very presentable car and with some cosmetic work, it could be a very nice car ready for the concours lawn. The mechanicals on the car have recently been rebuilt. The motor and gearbox were rebuilt by Santo's Italian Car Service in Northridge, California. When it was rebuilt it received new pistons/liners, crankshaft was sent out, new oil pump, complete valve job (suraface, new seats, guides, valves, etc.), new water pump, new chain, and rebuilt SPICA fuel injection. At the time of the engine rebuild, the car also got a new clutch and pressure plate, and the transmission was rebuilt (new syncros and sliders). The front suspension was gone through by Santo's Italian Car Service last year. The car runs and drives fantastic. It always starts right away even after sitting for a week. The paint on the car is still presentable but shows its use and age in a few areas highlighted in the photos on the link below. Some rocker repair and floor repair was done by the previous owner at some point. The work was done well and still looks good. The car is painted in a light green. It appears to have originally been silver. The dash is still silver so chaning it back to its original color won't require taking the interior apart. There are some dings and dents highlighted in photos in the link below. The chrome is in fair shape and shows its use. Interior in is good overall condition. The dash has ZERO cracks and in in excellent condition. The floors are covered in a combination of black carpet and Alfa Romeo rubber mats. The seats were also redone by the previous owner and do not have any rips or tears. The convertible top is in excellent shape as is the rear plastic window. Door panels are original to the car as is the trunk mat. If you would like to come see the car or have any questions that are not answered here, please feel free to call me Mon-Fri 8AM-6PM at (818) 701-1614. If you are looking for shipping quotes, you can tell the shipper than pickup is from Northridge, CA 91324. It is the buyers responsibility to pay for and arrange shipping. The car is sold in as is, where is condition with no warranties. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due no later than 24 hours after the auction ends. Balance is to be paid for within 7 days after auction is over either by bank check or wire transfer. This auction is for US bidders only, no international bidders please.

Alfa Romeo Giulia police cars will save lives
Fri, May 6 2016Oh look, it's another Italian performance vehicle turned into a police car. Evildoers beware, right? Not exactly. As much as we'd love to picture an Alfa Romeo Giulia chasing down bank robbers through the streets of Milan this newest addition to the Italy's national police fleet will be used for less thrilling purposes. Instead of chasing down speeders, two copies of new Giulia Quadrifoglio will transport organs and blood for emergency medical use, as well as serve ceremonial escort cars. The police version here adds the usual cop goodies like radios and lights, a portable defibrillator, LED flashlights in the doors, and one of those round signaling flags that Italians seem to love. There no mention of a cop motor or cop brakes, but that's probably not necessary. 'The Quadrifolgio tops the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia lineup with a 505 hp twin-turbo V6 capable of 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. When it eventually goes on sale in the US later this year or early next year, prices will range from around $40,000 for the base model to $70,000 in Quadrifoglio trim. Industrial designer seeking classic car, sketches his finds as he shops
Tue, Jan 20 2015The process of shopping for a vintage car can be both a joy and a nightmare. Wrapped up with the exciting opportunity of owning a classic is the anxiety of picking just the right one. Canadian industrial design professor Bruce Thomson and his wife are chronicling all of those ups and downs in a fascinating way. On their blog Kicking Vintage Tyres, Bruce exploits his talent as an expert draftsman to create detailed sketches of the vehicles they are considering, along with driving impressions of each one. The idea for the site started on a whim. After selling his 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220 a while back, it was time to own another classic. Bruce was looking at a Triumph TR6, and a friend asked for a description of the car. Bruce responded with a massive email detailing everything he saw, and the concept for the blog was born. "It dawned on me early that my search was not going to be as easy or as quick as I had expected," he said to Autoblog in an email. "I decided that the best thing I could do would be to make a sort of 'game' out of the search by sharing it with others." Thomson's sketches truly set the blog apart. He clearly has an exceptional eye for a car's lines and often mixes his drawings with inset depictions of key portions of the vehicle. Beyond just the fabulous diagrams, the site is a great read too. While the TR6 initially topped the list, Thomson's search has broadened over time, and a Series 2 Alfa Romeo Spider and BMW 3.0CS also received consideration. "I'd not commit myself to any preferences though, as my head is easily turned," he said. The criteria are that the car must have a manual gearbox, be made between 1959 and 1976, preferably European, hopefully a convertible and cost 15,000-25,000 Canadian dollars ($12,525-$20,870). No matter how long it takes, this is a wonderful hunt to follow along with.
