1958 Alfa Romeo Guilietta Spider Convertible on 2040-cars
Bristol, Connecticut, United States
This car is part of my private collection. The car is all original that I know of with the exception of the radio. The engine number does not match. This car was completely restored in 1973 by a dealer in Connecticut. There is no rot and is in actually in really good overall extremely solid condition. The rocker panels are great. There were some paint bubbles that I sanded and primed over to preserve as you can see in the pics. I have since buffed out the nose of the car and have included the after photos. The car looks great just from what I did to the front nose since the primer spots are now down to a minimum. Things that have been done to the car: new
clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing, rebuilt master cylinder, new
brakes and cylinders, fuel system cleaned. The car was running, I have
not started it in a while. The body is straight, the doors close like butter and all the electrical is in tact. All the glass is great, window
cranks work. The interior is in decent shape, the leather seats could use
either replacing or some new stuffing, there are a couple of small tears.
The top has holes in it and will need replacing. The tires and leather
suspension straps need replacing. All of the chrome pieces are on the car. Some dents on the grill. All can use a
re-chroming. The car looks great in person, its really dusty in the pics. It has been sitting in dry storage. Forgot to mention it was undercoated underneath in 1973, no rot there either. A light restore for immediate driving or a further in depth restore for the articulate collector. This car is an excellent candidate in exceptional condition, not like some of the other cars you see of the
same year. Overall with a bit of love and attention she could be a better
gem than she already is. Good Luck Bidding. Please do not bid
if you are not serious or if you have bad feedback. I take pride in my
100% positive feedback. The car is located
in Bristol Connecticut. Interested bidders can make an appointment to
come and see the car before the Auction comes to an end. The winning bidder is responsible for vehicle
pick up or shipping at his/her own expense. I will make every effort to
assist in the process. $2,000 Deposit via PayPal is required within
48 hours of the auction closing. Full Payment Required within 4 days of
auction close. If payment is not received within this time frame the car will be re-listed. Transfer will be made by a bill of sale. If you have any questions about the car you can reach me at 772-209-0718 Disclaimer: This
vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty, expressed, written or
implied. On Jul-26-14 at 00:01:09 PDT, seller added the following information:

Slow Chinese market delays Maserati and Alfa Romeo models
Thu, Dec 3 2015We already told you that Alfa Romeo was delaying the Giulia sedan and an unnamed CUV, but now things are getting worse. According to Bloomberg, Maserati has delayed the Alfieri sports car. And it's all China's fault. The faltering Chinese domestic market, which is experiencing its slowest period of growth in nearly three decades, is forcing Fiat Chrysler to rethink its plans for its Italian models, Bloomberg reports. Rather than going for models that would likely be popular in China, including the Alfa CUV and a larger sedan, the company will shift its focus and bring out updated MiTo and Giulietta hatchbacks, both of which would play better in Europe, an unnamed source within FCA told Bloomberg. This news is notable because it shows that FCA boss Sergio Marchionne's ambitious product transformation is not progressing as smoothly as planned. In the MiTo's case, the company is willing to go back on its original strategy. The subcompact hatch wasn't supposed to survive beyond 2016, but Bloomberg is reporting an update is due by the middle of next year. As for Maserati, well, there's not much to say. The Alfieri was supposed to go on sale next year, and now it's not. There's no word on how (or even if) Maserati's priorities will shift to another vehicle, or if this is simply a matter of money being distributed away from one of FCA's brands and toward another. Marchionne to make Alfa Romeo a separate company within Fiat
Mon, 28 Apr 2014According to a report in Automotive News that quotes "people familiar with the matter," the next big play in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's plan for Alfa Romeo is to break it off from Fiat Group Automobiles and set it up as a separate company within the Fiat empire, giving it the same structure as Ferrari and Maserati. The idea, say the sources, is that a transparent, standalone Alfa Romeo that has to justify its every move could clearly prove its success in the public financial statements it would have to report, finally achieving Marchionne's aim of making Alfa Romeo "a credible business proposition."
That, of course, assumes that Alfa Romeo will make a success of it. The brand hasn't made a profit in any year of Marchionne's decade at the helm; sales last year fell to numbers not seen in almost half a century and its new product offensive might not include the two vehicles currently responsible for 99 percent of its sales. We're told that the brand's six new models will begin arriving in 2016 - a roadster, a midsize sedan and large sedan, a compact SUV and large SUV, and a large coupe.
Marchionne aims to expand Alfa's global appeal in several ways, the first by stressing that they are Italian products that 'belong' to Italy. This is the stance that appears to have put the kibosh on the roadster twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5/Miata. Alfa Romeos will all be made in their home country, and if they take off they'll help bandage Fiat's problem with underused plant capacity, a bugbear that is just as problematic culturally and politically as financially. Top-tier trims would use V6 engines developed by Ferrari, and global access would get a boost by selling Alfa Romeos in Jeep's 1,700 international dealerships.
Is Alfa Romeo readying 4C Spider for Detroit reveal?
Wed, Dec 31 2014The 2015 Detroit Auto Show just keeps looking like one of the best automotive events in the Motor City in years, and it seems increasingly likely that we're going to see another sports car reveal there with the production Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. The latest hint towards the unveiling of the Spider comes from FCA's own blog. In a story about the first customer deliveries of the 4C Launch Edition, the last sentences nearly let the cat out of the bag: "Alfa Romeo plans to introduce eight new models by 2018. You'll get your next Alfa fix at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January." Just looking at the roofline of the 4C, it's pretty clear that a convertible was in the cards from the very beginning. Alfa confirmed that with the Spider concept (pictured below) at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and reaffirmed the drop top in the company's five-year plan. Further evidence for the fast approaching debut came recently when a fully production-spec 4C Spider (pictured above) was spotted being professionally filmed in Spain. It sported some changes over the concept, including a cooling inlet on the driver's side rear fender and exhausts at the corners, instead of the center.
