This car is beautiful and drives great, right NOW. It is NOT perfect so let's get that out of the way now. It has an Oregon branded title. The branded title is the results of body damage at a time when the value of GTVs were low, The cost of repair exceeded the cars value at the time of damage. This was the fate of many Alfas just 10 to 15 years ago. The owner at the time took what the insurance company paid and his own money and had the car repaired properly. As near as I can tell the nose and part of the right front fender were replaced. There is evidence of floor repairs and currently the floors are without rust. The overall condition of the body of the car is near perfect with some small surface rust bubbles near the right rear window just below the pillar badge. There is a windshield scratch on the passengers side that can be polished out. The side marker lights and bumper uprights have been remove for better cosmetics. There is a small area, about an inch, on the top of the rear seat that needs repair. Other than this the car is ready to drive now. Get in, start it and drive away.
Current top price for a perfect GTV is $35,000. This in not a perfect car but looks and drives like one. You can own it for far less than $35,000 and drive it the day it arrives at your house. You will of course have responsibility for transportation. This car is has red performance springs and Koni shocks on all four corners. The following work was completed on Tuesday January 28, 2014: Replace clutch slave cylinder and hose, fuel tank filter, all fuel hoses, fuel pump, battery, points..spark plugs..distributor cap..distributor rotor..condenser, coolant bleeder, anti-freeze, gear oil trans and diff, brake fluid, clutch fluid, 1-4 exhaust manifold, engine oil and filter. The following services were performed: Replace radiator filler flange and service radiator, rebuild wiper motor and wiper mechanism, Replace main wire on Alternator, repair backup light and left rear tail lights. 4 NEW TIRES! I did not mention the Transmission because there is nothing to say except that it is smooth as glass. I would buy this car myself (I'm selling this car for a friend who is eBay challenged) but I already have 4 GTVs and one is burgundy. All recent work was performed by Veloce Motors in Oregon by a 1973 factory trained certified Alfa mechanic. Please read the description before asking questions. This is an auction and WILL take place on eBay and not on the phone. I will be glad to talk to the winner on the phone at the end of the Auction. |

Alfa CEO says 4C can manage more power
Mon, May 5 2014With 240 horsepower from a 1.75-liter engine, the Alfa Romeo 4C does a lot with very little. But there's always room for improvement, says the company's CEO. Speaking with Automotive News, Alfa Romeo chief Harald Wester indicated that the historic Italian auto marque could squeeze more out of the 4C's already high-strung engine. "We are only at 134 horsepower per liter," said Wester, "so there is space" for it to produce yet more power. To accommodate the extra muscle, Wester says, the Alfa would also need bigger brakes, but the chassis may already be as stiff as it needs to be. Considering that Mercedes gets 355 horsepower out of the 2.0-liter turbo four in the A45, CLA45 and GLA45 AMG (for a specific output of over 177 hp per liter), Wester may be right, opening the door for a 300hp version with a 0-60 time of around four seconds flat. And his saying so more than subtly suggests the possibility of a more powerful 4C becoming a reality. But then the prospect of shoehorning a bigger engine into the same chassis to make a new Maserati GranSport - another prospect which Wester (also CEO of Maserati) suggested earlier in the 4C's development - never came to pass, largely due to engineering roadblocks. Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing
Fri, 08 Nov 2013Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
Sergio Marchionne wants Alfa Romeo back in F1
Mon, Feb 15 2016It's been decades since Alfa Romeo has competed in Formula One. But if Sergio Marchionne gets his way, it could make a comeback soon. Now we know what you might be thinking: Alfa Romeo and Ferrari are both part of the same Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, so why would Marchionne want two brands competing against each other in such a costly racing series? Because technically speaking, Ferrari is no longer part of FCA, that's why. They share mostly the same owners and are run by the same person (Marchionne), but the Prancing Horse marque recently split off from its former parent company and floated its own shares on the stock market. That makes it a separate entity, and also means that FCA no longer has a direct link to F1. But its chief executive clearly thinks the investment is worthwhile. Marchionne has been known to state grandiose plans, but he's also been known to carry through on many of them. So the next question is, if the plan goes through, just how Alfa Romeo might participate in F1? Some automakers (like Mercedes) field their own teams, others (like Honda) compete as engine suppliers, and still others (like Infiniti) as branding partners. Alfa could go either route, but Marchionne told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that "Alfa Romeo is able to make itself a chassis, and it is able to make engines." Of course, that doesn't mean that it necessarily will. It could outsource a chassis from a constructor like Dallara, which is located near the same Varano circuit that Alfa uses regularly. It could also source an engine from its former sister company: Marchionne floated the possibility of starting a separate engine program in Maranello for Red Bull when it was hunting for a new engine partner, and could ostensibly do the same for Alfa Romeo. "In order to re-establish itself as a sport brand, Alfa Romeo can and must consider the possibility of return to race in Formula 1," said Marchionne. "How? Probably in a collaboration with Ferrari." Alfa Romeo first competed in F1 in the early 1950s, winning the world championship two years running in 1950 with Giuseppe Farina (scion of Pininfarina) and 1951 with Juan Manuel Fangio. It then dropped out, only to resurface as a full constructor team between 1979 and 1985, with limited results. It also supplied engines to an array of teams in the 1960s, '70s, and '80s.
