1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider on 2040-cars
Pataskala, Ohio, United States
NO RESERVE My grandfather bought this car (and a parts car...1963 Giulia) in 1980 when he retired. He tore the car apart and it sat until 2009. The farm sold in 2009 and he had a little bit a money to put back into this project. So, we started putting the car back together in 2009. Sadly, his health deteriorated quickly. His final wish was to get a chance to drive this car again. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to drive it. But we were able to take him for a ride around the block several times. After several strokes and due to growing medical bills and the inevitable hospice care that will be needed, we must let the car go. (I have several videos of him in car so that you can see and hear it running and driving) The following is a description of the car as I know to be accurate. I will not lie or falsify information just to sell the car. The chasis is a 1961. The engine came out of the parts car (1963) and thus has the 1600 in it. We used the hood from the 1963 in order to clear the bigger engine. Because we were rushed to put this car back together quickly, corners were cut. Not going to lie about that. However, one thing I'll stand behind is the body work. The body work is fantastic. Zero bondo in this car...everything was welded correctly and dents were pulled. (I'll have more work in progress pictures for interested buyers) The paint is a nice driver....hardly show worthy. Mechanically, she won't win any prizes. Master and wheel cylinders were rebuilt. Engine was rebuilt...but I can't say one way or the other if it was done correctly. It has the 5 speed from the 1963. All trim/chrome appears to be in decent shape. There is the typical pitting that you would expect from a 50 year old car. Bumpers are original and are painted. (Not re-chromed) There is no heater box. We have 2 tops for the car. An original all steel hard top (Pictured) and the soft top. The soft top has not been refurbished. The frame appears to be in good condition. The tires are 30 years old (Only 10 miles on them, however) Grandpa bought tires in 1980. I wouldn't put them on the highway if I were you. The brakes are squishy. I believe there is still a bit of air in the lines. New exhaust with original manifold. Some of the gauges don't work. It has an original (almost perfect condition) wiring harness. However, we have what appears to be a good voltage regulator but I have 2 extra. (I really have no idea what I'm doing with electric) I strongly encourage you to call me before bidding to talk about the car. (614-378-7508) I am not shipping this car anywhere. If you want it, buy a ticket to Columbus Ohio. I'll pick you up from the airport...we'll go look at the car. If it's what you want, we'll do the deal. I'll even drive you to a uhaul location to rent a trailer to start your journey home. I will not accept paypal or any other form of scam ridden payment options. Meet me in Columbus Ohio. We can do a wire transfer or cash. The winning bidder will be required to send me a $2000 earnest money deposit within 7 days. ( A check is fine for that) PLEASE CALL 614-378-7508 WITH ANY QUESTIONS! |

Alfa Romeo unveils more details about US-spec Giulia
Fri, Mar 18 2016Last November, Alfa Romeo unveiled some of the tech specs about the 2017 Giulia in the US, but now the company has released even more details about the lower trims ahead of their upcoming appearance at the New York Auto Show. We still don't officially know their prices, but the Giulia arrives here in three trims: a standard model, the mid-range Giulia Ti, and the high-performance Giulia Quadrifoglio. The Giulia and Giulia Ti use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 276 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Power routes through an eight-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and the sedans can reach 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The optional Q4 all-wheel drive system can send up to 60 percent of the torque to the front axle when necessary. However, there's no word yet how this layout affects performance. Even the lower rungs of the Giulia range have a sporty demeanor. Standard features include a seven-inch driver info display between the analog gauges, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and keyless start. Depending on model, they come with either a 6.5-inch or 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system, which uses a rotary dial in the center console for the controls. There's also a huge range of customization, including optional Sport, Luxury, and Performance packages and 13 available exterior colors. The Quadrifoglio ups the performance ante with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 boasting 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, which rockets the sedan to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. To maximize efficiency, the engine has stop-start and cylinder deactivation. Customers who want a little more can order optional carbon fiber shell Sparco seats, which Alfa claims are the lightest in the segment, and carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes.
Alfa Romeo to go all-electric by 2027
Mon, Aug 9 2021On an earnings report last week, Alfa Romeo parent company Stellantis tacked on some electrification plans for its 14 brands. One surprising piece of information: Alfa Romeo would be the first of them to go fully electric, and it'll happen by 2027. We've known that Alfa Romeo would eventually go electric, but it's a bit surprising to hear that Stellantis wants it to happen on such a short timeline, and that it would spearhead its EV push. Alfa Romeo has been one of the most protected brands in the Stellantis empire, and one of the most traditional as well. The often quirky but nevertheless beloved brand has long been a favorite among car enthusiasts. In fact, brand heritage is so important that back in 2014 the company opted to develop its own Spider rather than borrow a platform from the ND Miata (That car went to become the Fiat 124 instead). Stellantis didn't confirm what the first Alfa EV would be, but it could arrive in the form of a subcompact crossover about the size of a BMW X1. It could also share the platform with other Stellantis brands like Peugeot, Fiat and Jeep and is slated to debut in 2022 or 2023. In the meantime, Alfa Romeo is working on the Tonale plug-in hybrid electric, which was recently delayed. Reportedly, Stellantis head Jean-Philippe Imparato was not satisfied with the hybrid-electric system. The PHEV crossover will share a platform with an upcoming Jeep model as well. It should arrive in early 2022 if things stay on track from here. The express timeline also indicates that the new Stellantis STLA large-vehicle architecture will have to be ready before 2027. It's set to replace the sharp-handling rear-wheel-drive Giorgio platform that underpins the Giulia and Stelvio. And while it'll be shared across multiple Stellantis brands, Imparato has promised Alfa Romeo-badged cars will retain the qualities that have made the name so special. In the same report, Stellantis confirmed that Opel would go all-electric by 2028 and Fiat would follow by 2030. 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Review: Exceptionally sporty, but compromised
Wed, Feb 22 2023Pros: Excellent steering and handling; two sporty engines available; stands out from crowd Cons: Mediocre interior; lackluster tech; small for its segment The 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio feels exotic for the compact crossover segment, with its Italian pedigree, sharp styling and sporty performance. It checks the boxes of a luxury daily driver, while still offering sharp driving dynamics that might mean its owner doesn’t miss the sports car that doesnÂ’t fit their lifestyle anymore. And, you canÂ’t dismiss that this thing is different than the rest of the pack. An Italian car with its signature “Scudetto” grille sure stands out in a parking lot full of more common family vehicles with more conformist design — especially if you pick one of the bolder, brighter paint colors from AlfaÂ’s palette. The biggest sticking point with the Stelvio is that its interior doesnÂ’t quite live up to the rest of the vehicleÂ’s grandeur. ItÂ’s not particularly roomy, and middling material quality and a lack of general artistry dull the illusion of exoticism in the otherwise glamorous and sporty Stelvio (though if you like carbon fiber, the QuadrifoglioÂ’s got you — and practically every surface — covered). The tech, while serviceable, is less spectacular than what youÂ’ll find in the competition (though considering how overwhelming some infotainment systems can feel today, that might not be the worst thing ever). The Stelvio is due for an update for 2024, so weÂ’ll see this generation stick around for a few more years before Alfa starts rolling out a raft of electric models. Still, if youÂ’re on the fence about whether to buy one now or wait until next year, we donÂ’t any expect major changes to come, especially not in terms of performance. And while we think some of its competitors offer more in the way of luxury and utility, the Stelvio is still a great choice for a customer who actually cares about driving dynamics and standing out from the crowd. Interior & Technology  |  Passenger & Cargo Space  |  Performance & Fuel Economy What it's like to drive  |  Pricing & Trim Levels  |  Crash Ratings & Safety Features What's new for 2023? The Stelvio gets an Estrema trim that borrows features like adaptive suspension and limited-slip differential from the line-topping Quadrifoglio, without taking the step up in engine performance and the much higher price tag that comes with it.
