1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider
A Striking and Zippy Open Tourer
Chassis No. AR149503714

  • Desirable early 750 Series Spider in Great Colors
  • Classic Looks with Improved Performance
  • Recent $6k Service - Ready to Drive
  • A respectable entry into Italian sports car ownership

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spiders represent Alfa's trademark shape of the 1950s and 1960s. Their understated but charming lines and nimble, responsive platform have long made them an "all-time" car among Italian automotive enthusiasts.

Here is a great example of a purpose built Giulietta with classic looks and the performance of a later 115 Series 2.0 Liter and 5-Speed transmission. The early 750D body style is often more revered with a shorter wheelbase and smaller rear lights. Finished in a desirable Blue/Red color combination, this Spider is ideal for a runabout and makes a real sleeper with its current powerplant, factory stance and steel wheels.

Recent services include sway bar mounts, sway bar link bushings and bar pads, new performance distributor, a complete tune up with valve adjustment, transmission mount, motor mounts, tie rod ends, new front hubs and bearings, wheel studs, new Michelin tires and soft top. Work completed by Stewart's Automotive in Sacramento, California.

While not a show quality contender, this Giulietta is a very strong driver, benefiting from recent attention and handsome looks. This great little Alfa Romeo offers spirited open touring at a reasonable price and certainly makes a respectable entry into Italian sports car ownership.

Alfa Romeo Giulia runs the Nurburgring

Sat, Aug 22 2015

Usually when spying a pre-production car, the goal is to figure out what it looks like underneath the camouflage. However, that's not a concern with his video of a heavily concealed Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio because the design was already fully revealed. Instead, this is an opportunity to listen to the upcoming sports sedan lapping the Nurburgring. For a vehicle with just 2.5 years of development by only 11 people, the Giulia certainly makes all the right noises. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine has a growling note as the sedan speeds away, and there's no audible turbo whistle – at least in this clip. The sound is angry but still somewhat subdued for a mill making 510 horsepower. The test driver here is really pushing things, and the tires are squealing through practically every corner. The Alfa's rear end even steps out a little a few times. The Giulia is slated to arrive in the US in the first half of 2016. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing the sedan again at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, where some additional powertrains are rumored to debut. Related Video:

Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider is a beauty in blue

Sun, Feb 28 2016

Be still our beating hearts. The beautiful blue sportscar you see above is the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider. It's the latest work from Italian design house Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary. As you can see, it's a work of art, but what you can't see is that, like the hardtop version that came before it, this car is actually based on the bones of an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. That means it's bound to be a rare beast, since only 500 8C coupes and 500 8C Spiders were ever built. Apparently, just seven of these droptops are planned, and each one will be painted in a different color. The hue we see on the car that's debuting at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show is called Blue Ceruleo, which we figure pretty much means Sky Blue. Here's hoping at least one comes in a green scheme similar to the one shown off at Geneva back in 2014. We don't have any details about what powers the Disco Volante Spider, but we'd guess it uses the same 4.7-liter V8 and six-speed semi-automatic transmission that powered all the original 8C models. That would mean 444 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, a 0-60 run 4-ish seconds and a top speed of around 180 miles per hour. But the actual performance seems mostly superfluous to the Disco Volante Spider's real mission, which is to look pretty. You'll want to check out our image gallery for more close-up shots. And if you just can't get enough, it seems that someone with early access to the show floor in Geneva smuggled in a camera. Check out the video above. US-spec Alfa Romeo 4C Spider caught naked at a photo shoot

Tue, Dec 23 2014

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is getting ready for its reveal and market roll-out, which means it's time to put together broadcast materials, and that means the open-roof coupe has to venture outside. Someone caught a few photos of a yellow example during one such jaunt in Andalusia, Spain during photo and television work, and based on this glimpse we'll happily welcome it to our shores. Yes, we felt the same way when we saw the concept introduced at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, and except for two small changes, it's the same car. This production version has an air inlet on the driver's side just ahead of the rear wheel said to improve cooling for the dual-clutch transmission, and the centrally mounted exhaust pipes on the concept have moved to the corners. It also wears the concept's wheels and the conventional headlights, instead of the arachnid units best suited for getting the attention of mating wolf spiders. We shouldn't have too much longer to wait for information on the car's weight gain and performance, as well as its roof panel operation. Until then, head over to www.autoblog.it and Carscoops for a few more on-location shots.
