1996 Acura Tl 2.5 Fwd, Lthr, Moonroof, Alloys, 190k on 2040-cars
Mundelein, Illinois, United States
This is what I have on Craigslist. Its a great car for someone who needs a reliable family sedan...
Excellent running, Great condition Acura. Engine runs perfect with no errors. (the pic with check engine light was just a misfire. This was before i changed the spark plugs and had it erased) It has New Spark plugs (50 miles) New Crank Sensor. All new Belts (200 miles) Alternator newer, All new coolant, just flushed it. The tranny shifts perfect and is as smooth as the motor. Changed Tranny fluid. I just changed the Temp sensor and the thermostat, put in a 165 Degree one. The tires are great. The fronts should be changed with the backs though. The back tires are almost new, where as the front ones have 70% tread left. Everything on the car is in excellent running order. I'm a mechanic in Grad school. This is how i get through school. I find cars, fix them and drive them, to make sure everything's all tuned up and good, (and then try and sell them for a few bucks) This car now has over $2400 into it. I bought it for 1400, then put 1000 into it. (including parts, Crank sensor, Crank pulley, Curt hitch, and a new hood (its in Wisconsin, we can figure that out later) The car does have some minor rust spots on it. Including the little spots in the rear wells, the hood and right below the license plate on the trunk. Its small. I was going to fix it, that's why I bought the hood. I took it home to work on it. Its included, $300 value. I kind of got carried away, so now my so-called-flip has turned into a flop. I just changed the fluids, (didn't flush it) and added expensive Valvoline fluid to the tranny, with high mileage additive. I just changed the oil and oil filter with Amsoil. Its the most expensive and the best synthetic oil you can buy. Its 11 bucks a quart. I have 100 miles on the oil and you don't have to change it for 25,000 miles or 12 months. The brakes are excellent, they were just gone through. The ABS light is on unfortunately, and it needs a sensor. (took it in, thats what they said. I might be a Mechanic, but ABS stuff is impossible without the right equipment to troubleshoot) Its clicking too. (the drivers side) This is a very common Honda problem. Its the steering knuckle. Its not a problem for driving, its just I just haven't gotten time to change it. This car runs and drives like a Mercedes Benz. No joke, its got the double wishbone suspension; same technology as most race cars. The interior is very nice, give it a 8.5/10. The exterior is all original. Again it has a few scuffs and scratches on the front and rear bumpers. I just fixed and installed all new Expensive halogen lights and fog lights in the front. I give the exterior a 7/10 with a few small spots on the hood and the rear wheel wells. The exhaust is very nice and quiet. All the sensors are fine with no codes. Again this car is a great family car. Very safe and was one of the leading award winning cars in the 90's. I'd keep it, but I'm just a student trying to get by...just one more semester left. (omg i'm in debt) Sorry for the info, I don't like surprises for people and the car is what it is. A very nice family sedan, with 190,000 miles. Yes, that might seem like a lot to some, but this car can easily go another 60,000 if taken care of. Look on Kelly's Blue Book. The car retails for about $2300. Its a well built, well engineered Japanese car. Its a high-end Honda. (in Japan they call it a Honda Legend) I'm a military mechanic by trade. I was in the Air Force and stationed all over the country. I've gone through this car in hopes to flip it. But where I'm at its just impossible to sell cars. In Chicago, there are literary hundreds of great cars for under 2000. I'm now in Vernon Hills/Mundelien area studying for the Priesthood. I was asking $1900 on Craigs-list. Its now today on Ebay...we'll see what happens. My loss is your gain. Peace |

2020 Colorado Winter Driver's Notes | Behind the Wheel S02 // E12
Mon, Apr 6 20202020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 I’ve had bad luck with SUVs this winter. Especially performance ones. First, I got a 2019 Range Rover Sport SVR delivered on summers right as two feet of snow fell, rendering it undriveable. Then, coronavirus cancelled Easter Jeep Safari as well as my trip out to Moab in the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Diesel. Thankfully, when this 469 horsepower luxury mall crawler was dropped off, the sun shone down and the snow (mostly) held off. The first thing that I noticed was there were a few blank buttons throughout the cabin, something that you may see in an entry model vehicle, but IÂ’m not accustomed to seeing in an AMG. Not a great look for a vehicle with an $80,000 price tag. Thankfully that was where the disappointment ended. As soon as you press the start button, the engine fires up and the exhaust note is incredible. Hopping on the highway ramp near my house, I floored it, and the biturbo V8 had me pressed back into the driver's seat, and this wasnÂ’t even the S version that our staff drove last year. Inside and out, the GLC 63 was everything youÂ’d expect from Mercedes. The interior was immaculate, and while the infotainment wheel and touch pad may take some getting used to for someone who isnÂ’t familiar, by now I have it down so that I can use it without looking. And while the V8 left me smiling ear to ear, I was most impressed by the amount of useable interior space there is. I happened to be moving at the time of this review and while all of my large furniture was shoved into the back of a moving van, I was able to fit almost everything else in the back of the GLC. 2019 and 2020 Fiat 500X Trekking ItÂ’s hard to say goodbye to an AMG and then turn around and be excited when a Fiat 500X pulls in your driveway (I know, I know, automotive journalist problems). That being said, when the red Fiat pulled up, I found myself admiring it. I am very familiar with the 500X. Back in 2016 Autoblog had one for a year as our long term test vehicle. I drove that car everywhere, multiple trips up north in Michigan, and even tracked it at Gingerman Raceway for a few laps before the brakes started smoking. The 2019 model I had in my driveway and the 2020 model I drove in the snow up in the mountains feel very similar to that car. The interior is stylish and surprisingly roomy. The greenhouse is airy.
Acura recalls 106K MDX models for AC system bolt
Wed, Jul 15 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is announcing a recall covering the air conditioning system on 106,439 units of the 2014-2015 Acura MDX. The affected examples have production dates between April 23, 2013, and December 16, 2014. While the problem doesn't create a major safety concern, it could be very annoying when driving during the intense heat of the summer months. On these luxury crossovers, the bolts on the air conditioning compressor clutch drive might not have the proper anti-corrosion coating. This makes it more likely for them to eventually break, and if that happens the AC pulley could fall off the CUVs. Acura reports no injuries or crashes form the issue, and the company discovered the issue through warranty claims for the air conditioning not working. To repair the problem, dealers will replace the bolts. They'll also inspect the AC clutch plate and will replace it if necessary, as well. The repairs for some owners should already be in progress, according to NHTSA. SUMMARY: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Acura MDX and MDX AWD vehicles manufactured April 23,2013, to December 16, 2014. The affected vehicles have air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolts that may not have received the proper anti-corrosion coating. CONSEQUENCE: If a bolt was not coated, it may corrode and break as a result. If the bolt breaks, the compressor clutch plate may separate from the vehicle, possibly becoming a road hazard. REMEDY: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air conditioning compressor clutch drive bolt and install a new clutch plate if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 31, 2015. Owners may contact Acura client relations at 1-800-382-2238. Honda's number for this recall is JQ7. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. Five signs Honda cares about enthusiasts, again
Tue, Apr 14 2015It's a great time to be an enthusiast. From high-horsepower Hellcats to the purist BRZ, engaging automobiles are found in nearly every segment of the market. Everyone wants to join the performance parade. Everyone it seemed, but Honda. The company that built some of Formula One's most successful engines, helped launch the tuner market and gave the world a seminal supercar, has watched competitors of all stripes surge by it for the hearts, minds and dollars of enthusiasts. Until now. Honda put the rest of the auto world on notice at the New York Auto Show, revealing a jaw-dropping Civic concept, confirming the Type R will come to the United States and even adding a hatchback to the 2016 Civic line. Throw in the Acura NSX and much-improved ILX for Honda's luxury sibling, and it's undeniable the company is regaining its swagger. Once again, Honda is serious about performance, and here's five reasons why enthusiasts should believe. The Honda Civic Concept Looks Great We're psyched about the Civic concept, which was a surprise reveal earlier this month at the New York Auto Show. Clad in bright neon green, the concept edged out the Lincoln Continental for first place in our Editors' Choice awards at the show. As Editor-in-Chief Sharon Carty put it, "The color hurts so good." Yes, the green is blinding, but you don't have to squint to see the 10th generation of the Civic. Honda's concepts are the real deal, and this is the car (mostly) that will launch this fall. It's attractive, with a long hood, curvaceous sides and a simple but sporty grille. The powertrain lineup will include a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual, which should be a treat for enthusiasts. With its fresh looks and intriguing mechanicals, the concept previews an everyday driver you can get excited about. Obviously, we are. The Hatchback Returns Yep, the Civic is getting a five-door hatch in the United States. It's been a while. Honda last offered a Civic hatch for a brief time in the mid-2000s, and only as the lower-volume Si model. The new hatch will be produced at Honda's factory in the United Kingdom and imported to the United States. That's a win-win for Honda: it's using excess capacity in the UK to satiate a niche market for US buyers. The annual hatch production is reportedly expected to be 30,000 to 40,000 units, which is a drop in the bucket for the Civic lineup and its massive though declining sales.
