Thank you for viewing my 1996 Acura NSX-T with 5 Speed Manual Transmission.  I am the original owner of this vehicle, having purchased it directly from Acura of Brooklyn/Plaza Automall in NY.  The vehicle is currently located in Long Island, NY.  The sticker price of the vehicle was $84,225 plus tax/luxury tax.   The original sticker, plus various dealership brochures, service records, articles and other NSX memorabilia will be presented to the new owner as well.   This new 1996 model was purchased and titled in May of 1997.  It is a very RARE color combination that I bought off the showroom floor.  The color, which is designated on the sticker as “Plum” is referred to in the Acura brochure as “Midnight Pearl.” As you can see in the pictures, depending on the light, it sometimes looks black, sometimes looks dark blue and sometimes looks purple.   According to my research, only 33 NSX’s were manufactured in 1996 worldwide in this color.  During the entire NXS production run, dating back to 1991, only 87 in total were produced in this color.

I have listed the specs of this vehicle, but essentially it was purchased with every conceivable option, including keyless remote entry, custom floor mats and trunk mat and 5-CD changer mounted in the trunk.  Additionally, I purchased from the dealership the OEM NSX Car cover and the OEM front end bra/mask.  These items will also be included in the sale of the vehicle.  The NSX Car cover has been used every day since the car was purchased.  The front end mask was used once.  Essentially I tried it on shortly after I bought the vehicle to see how it would fit and function.  It worked fine.  I did not keep it on, nor did I ever use it again due to fear of damaging the paint from moisture or uneven fading, etc.  There is nothing wrong with the front end mask.  I simply never really had a use for it.  This NSX has NEVER been left outside.  It has been garaged and covered every day since purchase.  This vehicle has never seen snow, ice, sleet, etc.  It has rarely ever seen rain.  Absolutely NO accidents and a clean car fax.  This was always an extra vehicle and was never driven on a routine basis.  This explains the ultra-low mileage given its year of origin.  As the original and only owner, I can also unequivocally state that the car has never been raced, tracked or in any way abused.  It has never been driven by anyone but myself.  The only other “addition” to this vehicle is the purchase of dealer installed LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, which enables police to locate the vehicle.

All standard equipment is intact with one exception.  A few years ago I replaced the standard wheels and tires with aftermarket ones.  I spent three thousand dollars on new wheels and tires.  I went from the standard 215/45ZR16 Front and 245/40ZR17 Rear combination to Bridgestone Potenza tires and Volk SF Challenge wheels:  Front:  225/35ZR18 and Rear: 275/30ZR19.  Please see the pictures.

I have immensely enjoyed owning this car and look forward to transferring ownership to the next lucky individual.

The NSX introduction in the early 1990’s was heralded as revolutionary, from the perspective of engineering, styling, materials and performance characteristics.  It became not only the benchmark for supercar performance, but set a new standard for maintenance and care.

 “Ferrari performance with Honda reliability.”

Its introduction changed the way people thought about high performance exotic cars, establishing new standards of quality and sophistication.  The NSX was hand built in a custom designed factory.  Each NSX engine is hand crafted by a single highly experienced technician.    The lightweight, all aluminum, V-6 engine uses the DOHC VTEC system to produce 270 HP and abundant low RPM torque.  This produces as much, or more power than a comparable V-8 engine, but the V-6 design accomplishes this with considerably less mass and better handling.

One feature that established the NSX as a benchmark vehicle is that the entire car body is made from aluminum, making it the first all-aluminum production sports car ever built.  This yields a monocoque structure with a high level of strength and rigidity but with a 40% weight savings.  Another revolutionary feature of the NSX’s engineering is that the connecting rods that transfer  power from the aluminum pistons to the crankshaft are made of titanium.

Recent major servicing done:  Brakes resurfaced, new battery, oil change, transmission service/fluid change, brake fluid flush, coolant service, drain and flush fuel lines.

Performance cars overpower the Detroit Auto Show

Tue, Jan 13 2015

At precisely the stroke of noon on Monday, the 2016 Acura NSX rolled on stage at the Detroit Auto Show amid plumes of smoke and dancing lights. The sounds of the powerful engine revving soared to the rafters. It was the second coming of Acura's iconic sports car, and the reveal had all of the expected trappings. Afterwards, champagne corks popped and the bubbly flowed. It was noon in Detroit, but for the green-car movement, it seemed like the clock had struck midnight. That's an exaggeration, but performance was the overwhelming theme of North America's most important show. Ford – which has helped lead the way in smaller displacement engines and early adoption of hybrid powertrains – had more than 1,500 horsepower on stage one point after it revealed the GT concept, the new F-150 Raptor and the Shelby Mustang GT350R. The NSX is technically a hybrid (it has three electric motors), but with 550-plus hp, there's no doubt this Acura was bred on the track. The theme continued throughout the show at nearly every stand. Alfa Romeo showed off the 4C Spider, which is the open-air version of a car that purports to be the spiritual successor of the high-performance 33 Stradale from 1967. On Tuesday, Cadillac is scheduled to reveal the 640-hp CTS-V with the V8 transplanted from the Corvette Z06, and the Lexus was expected to roll out its own V8-powered beast, the 467-hp GS F. For enthusiasts – especially enthusiasts with money – these are halcyon days. But make no mistake, all of this power has a purpose. Ford product chief Raj Nair said the Blue Oval uses high performance cars to develop technologies, like aerodynamics and materials, which are then shared across its lineup. "It's another proof point about how serious we are in developing innovation through performance," he said. Ford, which is rolling out at least 12 performance cars by 2020, said the sporty cars attract younger and more influential buyers to its fold, which can help burnish its image beyond adding sales volume. Toyota is taking a similar approach, senior vice president Bob Carter said, noting the Lexus RC coupe draws people into showrooms and gets them excited about the brand, even if they don't end up buying one. "They provide an aspiration and a halo that provides the attention that gets you noticed in a cluttered market," he said.

2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced

Wed, Jul 6 2016

Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6. We drive the Acura TLX-GT racecar

Fri, Jun 26 2015

Don't break the car. As you can tell from the video, that's the theme of the day at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI. After two short lapping sessions in the Acura TLX-GT fear gave way to familiarity, and a second theme emerged: this is awesome. The anxiety was appropriate. There are only two TLX-GTs in the world, and both were at Gingerman that day. A mishap would potentially put either Ryan Eversly and Peter Cunningham out of contention for the subsequent Pirelli World Challenge race. I did not want to be that guy. But back to the awesome part. The TLX-GT is barely TLX, but more Acura that you might expect. The wheelbase, roof, and doors are all stock dimensions, although all the bodywork is carbon fiber. Out go the front MacPherson struts, in goes a special double-wishbone suspension. All-wheel drive comes from an XTRAC six-speed sequential transmission originally developed for Dakar Rally vehicles. The side mirrors are stock. Under the hood lies a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with a stock block, head, crank, and throttle body. "Under the hood" is a generous term, though, because half of the engine sits inside the cabin. The front end of the block is aft of the front axle - the rest of the hood is taken up with radiators and hoses. To service the turbochargers, the RealTime mechanics remove the top of the dashboard. The front-mid engine location pushes the driver's seat back to the B-pillar, so you sit like Hightower from Police Academy. Only with less visibility. This does not calm the nerves. Nor does the din of 600 or so unmuffled horsepower. My first laps were understandably timid. But the TLX-GT is actually easy to drive. You get used to the low, rearward seating position almost immediately. Once rolling you don't need the clutch for shifts - just bang the right and left paddles to go up and down. I even became accustomed to the acceleration. At more than 3,000 pounds curb weigh the TLX-GT is quick, but not as explosive as cars like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Where the TLX-GT blows away road cars is in grip and braking, neither of which I fully exploited. The brake pedal is so hard you feel like you're standing on it just to get the pads to bite. Once engaged, they're like an endless well of deceleration, with ABS somewhere down at the bottom of the abyss. Second lapping session over, car returned intact and adrenaline high in full effect. I had the uncontrollable urge to get back behind the wheel. I mean, I barely had time to get up to speed.
