1992 Acura Nsx, Low Miles, Accident Free on 2040-cars
Iowa City, Iowa, United States
For sale is my 1992 Acura NSX. I am the third owner and have owned the car since 2004. The car is an absolute blast to drive and is a serious head turner. I am complimented on the car every time I drive the car, most people think the car is a Ferrari. For those who know the history of the NSX, the "cockpit" of the car was designed based on the F-16 fighter jet which becomes very obvious when you drive the car. The sound of the 3.0L VTEC right behind your head as it revs to 8,000 rpm is pure ecstasy.
The car currently has around 57,000 miles (see photo for exact miles). It is a great AFFORDABLE exotic sports car that has maintenance similar to a Honda Accord. Simple additions I have made to the car are Eibach lowering springs, Koni yellow adjustable shocks, 18" chrome rear wheels, 17" chrome front wheels and a K&N intake. I still have the stock wheels and airbox which will be included in the sale of the car. Only bad thing is currently the stereo does not work in the car, it will power on but does not produce sound. However, I rarely listen to music in this car because I love the sound of the motor. The car is in great shape and has been very well taken care of. It shifts smoothly with no grinding and handles like it's on rails. I have been a car detailer for over 13 years and meticulously care for my vehicles, you will not be disappointed. Car has been garage kept, never driven in snow, driven in rain less than 5 times and gets waxed at least 3 times a year. I adore the car, but I am finally ready to try something different. Please bid with confidence, this is a well taken care of car. Any questions, please call at 319-331-3433 or email me at MVwaltz@mchsi.com -Mike |

Reliving the Acura NSX debut, 25 years later
Sat, 03 May 2014The Acura NSX might be one of the most important Japanese cars ever created. The Land of the Rising Sun had already established that it could make very competent performance vehicles when the NSX debuted in 1989, but Honda's two-seater was the first one that looked to the world like a true contender against Ferrari and Porsche, thanks to its cutting-edge technology. The Acura had an all-aluminum monocoque chassis, a beautifully low-slung body and a quick-revving V6 with an 8,000-rpm redline. This quintessential Japanese sports coupe celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and Autoweek recognizes it in a fantastic piece chronicling the model's US launch.
The story begins in February 1989 at the Chicago Motor Show where the car debuted. The day before the show opened, the concept still didn't have a name. The Japanese development team referred to it as New Sports, and the American Acura executives decided to add eXperimental to the end. The moniker NSX just stuck afterwards.
The article paints a fantastic portrait of the car and the company at the time. Honda had something to prove with the NSX. To succeed, the coupe had to be the best, and when the American press finally got a hold of it, they drowned it in accolades. Of course, Acura has a new American-built NSX on the way, and it has colossal legacy to live up to. This piece is definitely worth reading to understand why.
2014 Acura MDX priced from $42,290*
Fri, 31 May 2013The fully redesigned 2014 MDX goes on sale in July, and Acura has now confirmed that its largest crossover will be priced at $42,290 (*plus $895 for destination). Unlike previous MDX models, Acura will offer the 2014 model with both front- and all-wheel drive (the automaker's fantastic Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive, at that), and this base price is for the standard, two-wheel-drive MDX model. At the base level, this new pricing represents a $990 decrease over the outgoing, AWD-only 2013 model.
Four trim levels will be offered across the range, all of which use Acura's direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 engine good for 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include things like push-button start, Acura's fancy new Jewel Eye LED headlights, the next-generation AcuraLink system, an eight-inch multi-function display screen, blind spot monitoring and a premium sound system.
Moving up from there, the Technology package ($46,565) gains 19-inch wheels (18s are standard), forward collision warning, lane departure warning, a color TFT display, rain-sensing wipers and more. The Entertainment Package (bundled into one $48,565 model) adds rear seat entertainment to all of that. At the top end, the MDX Advance model gets unique wheels, remote engine start, 12-speaker ELS premium audio, adaptive cruise control and more. Adding Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive to any of these models results in a $2,000 price jump.
Honda insiders push for Acura NSX Type R sans hybrid tech
Thu, Mar 10 2016With 500 horsepower on tap from a sophisticated hybrid powertrain, there's plenty to love about the new Acura NSX. If the more performance-oriented elements within the Japanese automaker get their way, it could get even better. Speaking with one of the NSX project's chief engineers Nick Robinson at the launch of the new supercar, Autocar reports that there's an effort underway to develop an NSX Type R. Following a much-loved formula, the more extreme variant would pack even more power than the existing version, unburdened by excess weight. A big part of the targeted weight savings would come from ditching some of the heavier components from the hybrid system. The electric motor at the rear could stay to serve as alternator, starter motor, and flywheel. But the electric motors at the front would go, helping to shed a few hundred pounds. Throw in some lightweight materials and we'd be looking at a considerable weight reduction. It could even integrate some active aerodynamic elements that were excluded from the NSX on the road to production. Though the project may still be a ways off from getting the green light, but Robinson and some of his colleagues are working on prototypes ostensibly to make the case. He and his brother James (a powertrain engineer at Honda) will be driving a pair of NSXs at Pikes Peak this year – one that's as close to showroom stock as the regulations will allow, but the other will be closer to what they have in mind for a Type R. It'll ditch the hybrid system and put an electric compressor in its place to eliminate any turbo lag and produce even more power than the existing model. Now if they can only get the go-ahead from the higher-ups at Honda.
