The cars that won't live to see 2015 [w/video]

Every year in the fast-paced automotive industry brings new models, but it also spells the end for some that have been less successful. This year will be no exception.
Japan's automakers make up the bulk of the list of discontinued models for the 2015 model year: Acura is replacing the TL and TSX with the new TLX sedan, Honda is bidding farewell to the Fit EV as the new Fit hatchback takes its place, and Nissan is saying goodbye to both the Cube and Murano CrossCabriolet. Both the Nissan Maxima and Mazda2 exit stage left before their upcoming replacements arrive, while Toyota is terminating the RAV4 EV and FJ Cruiser as well as the Scion xD, and Lexus IS C and IS F that are being effectively replaced by the new RC. Meanwhile Infiniti is finally discontinuing the G37 that was already replaced by the newer Q50.
From our own domestic automakers, Cadillac discontinues the CTS-V sedan and wagon as the new CTS rolls in, Chevy is canceling the mild-hybrid Eco versions of the Malibu and Impala sedans, and Chrysler is killing off the 200 convertible as the new 200 sedan arrives.

2018 Acura TLX will get the Precision concept's grille

The mid-cycle refresh for the Acura TLX is upon us, and the first teaser shows a car with the new corporate face. The dimly lit image shows the car's pentagonal grille we first saw on the Precision concept at last year's Detroit auto show, and is currently found on the MDX crossover. The full reveal will come on April 11 at the New York auto show. The new fascia should be a significant improvement over the boring, generic one found on the current TLX. A closer look under brighter light also reveals that some of the character lines and creases aren't as sharp and crisp as those on the Precision concept. And while this new TLX should be more distinct that the current model, the headlights are certainly reminiscent of the scowling units on the new Opel Insignia. Acura says this refresh comes with significant updates but doesn't elaborate on what they are. Updates could include a standard 9-speed for both V6 and inline-4 engines, increased power, and a refreshed interior. We'll have all the details when the car launches in the coming weeks. Driving Iron Man's Favorite Supercar, The Acura NSX | Translogic 215

There's fast, and then there's 3 electric motors plus a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 fast. On this episode of Translogic, we're dealing exclusively with the latter. Our host Jonathon Buckley heads to Atlanta, GA to experience the hybrid-electric power of the Acura NSX. Bucko even had the opportunity to chat with the car's chief engineer about how the NSX is evolving the segment, much like its predecessor did nearly 3 decades ago. "It's gonna change the automotive segment very much like that original car did," said Jason Widmer, Chief Engineer for the NSX. Referencing the all-aluminum body on the original car and the 3 extra electric motors on the current model, Jason brings to light some of the more leading edge pieces of technology in the vehicles. Between the insanely smooth acceleration and the wonderfully loud engine noises, this is one hybrid that seems to give drivers the best of both worlds. This car has so much cool tech, it's no wonder it was Iron Man's vehicle of choice in the cinema blockbuster The Avengers.
