Simi Valley, California, United States
1964 Mercury Comet Calente' 2 Door Hardtop Rust free, Southern California Black plate original! Runs and drives great and the A/C is ice cold! Selling NO RESERVE! Featuring: 289 (K code) 4 bbl V-8, C-4 Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Factory Air Conditioning In my opinion this is a nice driver/show quality classic, it starts, runs and drives nice no smoke or leaks! The body is rust free and has no evidence of any previous rust repairs, the floors and trunk are nice and clean (see photos) The interior was just redone completely, including headliner, seat foam, everything ($3740.00) Tires are new, brakes were recently gone through, new radiator and coolant, Trans shifts perfectly, all glass is good, the paint is real nice and shiny with only a couple of imperfections. Nice sounding exhaust, the mileage shows 45,000 but I don't know if that is correct or it is 145,000 so assume its the higher. The chrome on the front bumper is pretty good, but the rear is thin and worn through in one spot, the heater has been disconnected so assume the heater core is leaking (don't really need it here) A/C was charged a few months ago and works great (very cold) Current registration until 4/14 No back DMV fees and Clear California Title in my name Any Questions Call or email Pat (818) 426-6363 No Reserve! |

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7
Sun, 31 Jul 2011You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.
Still, if you're willing to smell like a mountain man and look like a bad Back to the Future knockoff, this ride is right up your alley. Click past the jump to see Translogic's take on this modified Merc.
