2004 Chevy Express 3500 Extended Cargo Van / One Ton Work Van 6.0l V8 Auto on 2040-cars
Syracuse, New York, United States
Up for sale is a 2004 Chevy Express rear wheel extended work van with
136K miles. The van was taken off the road on 12/16/13 and is started every Monday and Thursday before I come in to work in the mornings. I have owed it
for a few years and am the 2nd owner. It was used 2-4 times a week to bring building and
maintenance supplies to apartments or to bring supplies to our
warehouse.
-I am selling this Van locally as well and reserve the right to cancel the auction if it sells before the end date- -Whats good about the van: The body is in great shape (no body rust)........see pics. Brand new brakes, rotors and wheel bearings done in June Professionally auto detailed and maintained regularly. All doors work. A/C and heat work great. Motor and transmission are strong. These vans go for 250K - 300K miles with proper care. Never been used to tow anything. -Whats wrong with it: The driver seat has a good size rip in it.......see pic. The ABS light is on - it is a sensor that costs 179.99 plus installation and does not effect the brakes at all. It was checked by Good Year recently and will pass inspection in NY state with the light on. & Paint is wearing off of in the inner sill of the sliding door.......see pic. _________________________________________________________________________________ I just bough a 2013 Chevy Dually with trailer and don't need both vehicles for work. The van books for $5600.00 in good condition on KBB and it is at least that if not in better shape. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ -Payment and shipping: -I will need 500.00 down (non refundable) payment when auction is done. The remainder can be cash in person or through PayPal. -If the buyer decides to have the van shipped I would suggest U-ship. It has worked great for me with several vehicles. I would help with loading only - no shipping arrangements are done by me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have 200+ feed back and have been a member of Ebay with my user name since 2001 so bid with confidence. Please contact me with any questions. My name is Steve, thanks you. |

IIHS: High numbers of drivers treat partially automated cars as fully self-driving
Tue, Oct 11 2022WASHINGTON — Drivers using advanced driver assistance systems like Tesla Autopilot or General Motors Super Cruise often treat their vehicles as fully self-driving despite warnings, a new study has found. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an industry funded group that prods automakers to make safer vehicles, said on Tuesday a survey found regular users of Super Cruise, Nissan/Infiniti ProPILOT Assist and Tesla Autopilot "said they were more likely to perform non-driving-related activities like eating or texting while using their partial automation systems than while driving unassisted." The IIHS study of 600 active users found 53% of Super Cruise, 42% of Autopilot and 12% of ProPILOT Assist owners "said that they were comfortable treating their vehicles as fully self-driving." About 40% of users of Autopilot and Super Cruise — two systems with lockout features for failing to pay attention — reported systems had at some point switched off while they were driving and would not reactivate. "The big-picture message here is that the early adopters of these systems still have a poor understanding of the technologyÂ’s limits," said IIHS President David Harkey. The study comes as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is scrutinizing Autopilot crashes. Since 2016, the NHTSA has opened 37 special investigations involving 18 deaths in crashes involving Tesla vehicles and where systems like Autopilot were suspected of use. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment. Tesla says Autopilot does not make vehicles autonomous and is intended for use with a fully attentive driver who is prepared to take over. GM, which in August said owners could use Super Cruise on 400,000 miles (643,740 km) of North American roads and plans to offer Super Cruise on 22 models by the end of 2023, did not immediately comment. IIHS said advertisements for Super Cruise focus on hands-free capabilities while Autopilot evokes the name used in passenger airplanes and "implies TeslaÂ’s system is more capable than it really is." IIHS in contrast noted ProPILOT Assist "suggests that itÂ’s an assistance feature, rather than a replacement for the driver." NHTSA and automakers say none of the systems make vehicles autonomous. Nissan said its name "is clearly communicating ProPILOT Assist as a system to aid the driver, and it requires hands-on operation.
Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party.
