1992 Chevy Camro RS V8 TBI w/5-speed manual transmission with Heritage package

This is a rare car with the Polo Green metallic paint (wa9539) with the Heritage Package rpo (z03) with a 5 speed.  You don't see many online sites or ebay.
Only 5,365 92 Camaro where made with 3 different interior colors (black, tan and grey), 2 different motors (v6 and v8), obviously manual or auto and the option of the heritage package. The interior also could have been leather or cloth with standard or custom cloth. Mine has the custom cloth. 8,197 heritage packages where made in 92 with 5 different colors available to get the package. Most common heritage packages where with red, black and white. If you do the math, you understand why this is a rare car.

The Exterior

My car has 134k and has has some modifications. The body has a 4" steel function cowl hood, shaved door handles, antenna shaved, black tinted taillights, iroc/z28 style grille with gold lettering, custom painted gold stripes with flames, new headlights, side markers, parking lights, new t-top weatherstripping, driver door weatherstrip and have the passenger side but not installed.  Headlights need to be adjusted.  There is a small dent on top of the passenger side fender and a little on the hood.  The rear bumper has a little spider crack on the lowest part on the driver side.  Doesn't hurt the overall appearance of the vehicle but so you know, this car wouldn't be rolling down a Barrett Jackson auction.  The t-tops are not glass but plexiglass(??) so they are very light and I believe only put on 91 and 92 camaros.  The tops have a cracking look but not cracked, I guess it is common for that plastic to look like that.

The Interior

The interior has a new headliner, window switches, driver and passenger side window motors, tan leather racing seats, 4 point harness seat belts and an 8 point roll cage.  The carpet has some wear but not stained or nasty looking.  Just needs some floor mats.  Radio works but never installed an antenna since I hate radio stations and was planning on putting a cd/ipod head unit in but never got to it.  Dash pad has the some cracks like all third gens get.  They are not terrible like I have seen on others.  The t-top hooks that go on the hump of the truck are off but can be re-installed so the t-tops can be stored in the trunk.  The arm rests are also off of the doors since there is no room with the roll cage.  The passenger side door popper/solenoid (45-50lbs) seems to be going out but they are easy to install and only cost $40 bucks from electric life (same brand installed currently).  I would recommend having an emergency cable or button installed in case the battery dies.  I very rarely drive the car and it just sits so it was never a big deal for me, just rolled the window partly down.

The Mechanical

New tires, rotors/pads, calipers, brake hoses, front shocks, rear sway bar links, spark plugs/wires, heater control valve, front and rear bump stops, o2 sensor, oil pressure sensor, starter enable relay, k&n air filter and battery. Previous owner before me installed a mild cam, edelbrock shorty headers, 3.73 rear end gears, pulleys, cat deleted and flowmaster muffler with stainless steel 3" tail pipes.  The passenger rear wheel cylinder has a very tiny rip on one side of the rubber.  I have the new part and will come with the car.

Overview

Reason I'm selling is because I have a ws6, and a grand prix too.  I don't need three cars, 2 sports cars to be specific when I have a 3 year old and would like to buy a house.  I hate to sell since I've had it since I was in high school and bought it from a close friend but need to focus on other things.  I just hope it goes to someone who will take care of it and make it a faster, meaner car.  Thank you and good luck bidding.

Buyer is responsible for pick up and/or shipping of vehicle.  Once payment is clear or paid in cash, buyer will be notified and given a week to get the vehicle.  If more time is needed, contact me and we can work it out.  Just wanted to specify that the vehicle is for auction "As Is." No warranties or anything, please read full description on vehicle before bidding.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
