Uber adds supercar rides in Singapore

Order a ride through Uber and you'll have a choice between what kind of car you want or need: Uber Black for standard fare, Uber X for the lowest cost available, Uber Taxi to order a regular cab, Uber SUV if you need to move more people or even Uber Lux if you want a luxury town car service. But customers in Singapore now have another option: to be picked up in a Lamborghini or Maserati. The pilot program launched in collaboration with Dream Drive will allow customers to be picked up in either a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder or a Maserati GranTurismo to get around the Southeast Asian city-state. Ordering up the Maser will set customers back 165 Singapore Dollars (equivalent of $120 USD) for the first 15 minutes and 7 SGD ($5.10) for every subsequent minute. The Lambo gets the same per-minute rate but begs a higher 200 SGD ($146) base rate. Uber and Dream Drive were even offering free rides over the weekend to launch the initiative. Those prices make riding around in an Italian exotic pretty pricey, especially since you don't actually get to drive them – just ride shotgun. But then cars are quite expensive to begin with in Singapore, where it costs over half a million in US dollars to get a new Maserati in the first place. Lamborghini launches Polo Storico heritage division

Lamborghini has always been more forward-looking than it has been focused on its past, but it has still left an undeniable wake of historically noteworthy and highly collectable classics. To tend to them, the company has launched Lamborghini Polo Storico. Sant'Agata's heritage division brings with it new initiatives and consolidates several existing operations under one roof. For starters, the new department will be responsible for the Archivio Storico Lamborghini, a historical archive detailing the company's past models as well as materials and techniques employed in their construction – all of which is being digitized for the first time. Polo Storico will also stockpile original parts and (if necessary) reproduce them from the original blueprints. The services will extend to offering customers the chance to have their classic Lambos restored by experts at the factory using original parts, and even have the vehicle's authenticity certified by a technical committee. Of course Lamborghini isn't the first European automaker to offer such comprehensive services for its historic models. Arch-rival Ferrari launched its Classiche department several years ago, and more recently Land Rover opened a similar operation of its own. These developments underline an increasing emphasis that automakers have been putting on their own heritage and the preservation of their history in the metal. Lamborghini unveils 50th anniversary Aventador Roadster and Gallardo

Though hardly moving into Porsche levels of 50th Anniversary celebrations, Lamborghini is taking its own golden jubilee pretty seriously. The Italian company treated the world to a 50 Anniversario version of the Aventador LP720-4 earlier this year in Shanghai. At this year's swanky show at The Quail during Pebble Beach weekend, Lamborghini is showing off the convertible version of the car, the very sultry Aventador LP 720-4 Roadster 50 Anniversario.
What's more, the company has brought along the anniversary-treated Gallardo LP560-2 50 Anniversario as well, which we officially saw for the first time in China. Hey, a stage full of Lambos is no bad thing in our book.
As the coupe version before it, the 50th Anniversary Aventador has been massaged to make a full-bodied 720 horsepower from its stunning 6.5-liter V12, as well as done up with special edition paint and badging. A subtlety redesigned front splitter will call out the limited run Aventador Roadster to those in the know, too.
