No Reserve Auction!  Serious Bidders Only! Please.

1979 Jeep Cj-5 Renegade edition.  This is a true AMC survivor with 75.5K miles. It has a 258 in-line six and a 3-speed manual transmission.

Off-Road equipped with a four inch suspension lift, full roll-cage, vintage Warn 8274 winch, four 33" Michelin ATX tires mounted on rare American Racing Gambler rims.  The spare is original to the Jeep.  The high-backed seats, Bestop, and five point racing harnesses were installed by the previous owner around 1993 and they show their age.  The driver's side seat is badly torn and needs a cover.  The after-market top may have lead to the water collecting on the driver's side where the rust is worse.  The roll-cage needs to be re-attached on the front left.

I purched the Jeep in 2000 from a fraternity brother who had it @ Appilachian State University.  He but new tires on it to sell it and I have managed to put just over 3,000 miles on it since then. I had the clutch rebuilt right before I stopped driving it regularly.  I kept it running until 2009 when the brown rusty water started pouring out and it was overheating.  Thanks to my father and a reconditioned battery we got her running again.  I drove her around the block and backed her in, but not before she started running hot!  She starts and runs but will need to be trailered.

It has been parked under the cover of shade trees and can't even be seen on Google Earth!

I hate to let her go, but we are expecting our second child soon and we are in need of something more family friendly.  Happy Bidding!

An immediate deposit (non-refundable) of $500.00 is due via Paypal immediately (within 24 hours) after end of auction.

Chrysler defies NHTSA, says it won't recall 2.7M Jeep Grand Cherokee, Liberty models

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Facing a possible recall totaling around 2.7 million of its most popular SUVs, Chrysler remains insistent that the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty are safe vehicles. This comes on the heels of a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for these two models due to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle, which could possibly be ruptured during severe rear-end collisions, leading to an increased risk of fire. In response to the allegations, Chrysler says that it does not agree with NHTSA nor does it plan on recalling either vehicle.
Chrysler said both SUVs "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity, and cooperated fully with NHTSA since the investigation was opened in 2010. While 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been reported from fires caused by rear-end collisions on these models, Chrysler is claiming that the vast majority of incidents cited by NHTSA were "high-energy crashes," including one where a stopped Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a tractor trailer going 65 miles per hour.
The automaker wraps up by saying "NHTSA seems to be holding Chrysler Group to a new standard for fuel tank integrity that does not exist now and did not exist when the Jeep vehicles were manufactured." Scroll down for Chrysler's official response to NHTSA, but we're pretty sure this isn't the last we've heard on this issue.

Marchionne: Midsize pickup still not in the cards; Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler could use aluminum

Wed, 07 May 2014

During the Fiat-Chrysler briefings on Tuesday, Reid Bigland, head of Ram Trucks, outlined the new product plans for his brand, including confirmation that an all-new light-duty Ram 1500 will launch in 2017. From there, discussions spun off in two directions, with the main questions being: will Ram build a midsize pickup? And, following Ford's move to extensively use aluminum in its new 2015 F-150, will Chrysler be using this weight-saving material for the next round of its fullsize truck, as well?
"I think there is room for a Ram 1000," Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above) told members of the media, saying this is a conversation the automaker has been having internally for several years now. "We've tried this ... we've actually taken it to clinics," Marchionne stated, adding that the "response has been lukewarm."

Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.
