I am selling my 1967 Jag 2+2 project. We purchased it as a complete driver car minus the engine and trans. It came with a Ford V8 conversion kit, headers, ect but we didn't want to build it that way. I am a former Toyota mechanic and had an '86 Supra drivetrain in the shop. It fit with very little modification in the engine bay. We were building it as a driver and so i wasn't interested in the the typical wiring, leaking, and carb problems. We wanted to retain the DOHC 6 look but wanted EFI reliability and performance that the Supra has.

I rebuilt the engine stock but polished anything aluminum, and there is alot of aluminum on this engine. It has a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout, ect. It is a 5 speed manual trans. I had a custom driveshaft built for Toyota trans to Jag differential. It has new adjustable front gas shocks.  I have many new brake parts for it (pads, SS lines, ect.) The alternator had to be relocated under the front of the engine rather to the side and it is approx 70% finished. The stock exhaust will clear but will need a good bender to fit it.  Everything else fits very nicely. We removed the complete wiring harness from the Supra and currently the harness has been fit into the jag but will require the finishing of connecting things. I have a very good factory Supra wiring manual to complete the process.
The body needed some new sheetmetal. A small section of the floor was replaced, new rockers, new trunk floor and new quarters were built and and installed. Once the sheetmetal was installed I did the bodywork and paint. I shot House of Color Blood Red on the car and cleared it. There was some slight overlapping so it still needs to be touched up and buffed out. I installed Mazda door latches for safety. Otherwise the body is stock appearing. Glass is all very good. I have new many new chrome pieces for it. It has billet aluminum pedals.
The original black interior is still in very nice, usable condition. I purchased later Jag dash gauges, electric, to work with the Toyota wiring harness and sensors. The original gauges come with the car. Included with the car are many new parts such as a HD aluminum radiator, wood grain dash, new chrome bumpers, ect. The wheels are good for a driver.
Overall, this is going to be a very neat driver when completed. It retains its original look, even the engine will fool many people as being the original, but you will have a major upgrade for performance and reliability. It is 100+% complete for parts needed and about 80% completed to finish it. Comes with clear title.

50th Anniversary Porsche 911 vs. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a battle of beauty, brawn

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

There can't really be a loser between the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. One might be better than the other, but if you're behind the wheel of either of them, you can't complain. In a new video, Motor Trend takes on the difficult task of determining which one of these European powerhouses is the best, not just in terms of raw performance, but also how they actually feel to drive.
The Porsche 911 is one of the perennial favorites of the motoring world. It just doesn't go away and always seems capable of challenging the top vehicles in its class. In this video, Motor Trend takes a look at the 50th Anniversary Edition model that celebrates that heritage while boosting power somewhat over the standard version.
The F-Type Coupe is an incredibly masculine car, MT describing it as "a British Corvette." The coupe's exterior lines are tautly stretched over its athletic body, and it's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sounds like a demon's growl. Jaguar seems to have things right with its latest sports car.

Jaguar details new Ingenium four-cylinder engines [w/video]

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

When Jaguar lifted the veil on its new XE sports sedan earlier this month, it only revealed details on one engine - that being the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in the flagship XE S. But we already knew that the British automaker's new entry-level model will offer many other powertrain options, and now it has revealed a little more.
Jaguar has been developing a new family of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines it calls Ingenium, which will be offered in a wide array of configurations and specifications. In advance of its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the Leaping Cat marque has announced the specifications of the two diesel versions. The first will offer 161 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and some of the best environmental credentials on the market. There will also be a more potent version with 177 hp and 317 lb-ft, which Jaguar says is "one of the highest torque outputs in the class." Either way, both versions feature variable exhaust valve timing, cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation and selective catalytic reduction technologies to help meet the stringent Euro 6 standards.
That's all well and fine, but considering that Jaguar doesn't offer diesels in North America, the chances of these oil-burners making their way Stateside seem slim. But if you watch the video below, you'll also find basic specs on their gasoline counterparts as well. Like the diesels, they're turbocharged and displace 2.0 liters, but in petrol form, they offer 197 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque, or 236 hp and 250 lb-ft.

Jaguar testing hardcore F-Type R-S GT?

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Some automakers make a hardcore model, then sit back and revel in its awesomeness. Jaguar does things a little differently. It takes a standard production model, gives it more power, bigger brakes and a tighter suspension and slaps the letter R on it. Then it gives it even more power, even bigger brakes and an even tighter suspension and calls it an R-S. Sometimes the engineers in Coventry don't even think that's enough, so they strip out some weight and dial things up even further and call it an R-S GT.
So far, they've only gone that far with the XK (transformed first into the XKR, then the XKR-S, and finally the XKR-S GT), but with that model on its way out, Jaguar seems to be preparing to give the newer F-Type a similar treatment. Now we can't be sure that what we're looking at is an F-Type R-S GT, especially since the 550-horsepower engine from the XKR-S and XFR-S is already powering the existing F-Type R Coupe, but it does seem to have all the makings of a hardcore performance model.
Compared to the existing F-Type, the development model pictured here has a bigger front splitter (like the one on the Project 7 concept), a big rear wing and a set of what looks like pretty big lightweight alloys. It's also, tellingly, a roadster, which (unlike the coupe) has until now topped out at 500hp with the V8 S model. So while it may be hard to say exactly just what Jaguar has in store for us here (or what they'll call it), one thing's for sure: it's gonna be fast and loud.
