Up for auction is my 1956 Ford F100 pickup. The truck runs and drives and everything in the truck works from the horn to the license plate lights. The truck is a bit of a frankentruck (that's what I call it). It's an original cab but has a fiberglass tilt front end and a late 80's early 90's bed on it. The truck is how i bought it. I've only maintained it and made some minor changes to it. This truck is fast and will smoke the tires all day long. It has a 73 olds 455 rocket motor with some internal upgrades to it. It came with a hand written build sheet that claims 400hp and 502lb ft of torque. The previous owner told me 2 years ago he ran back to back 13.9's and went on to the scale and weighed in at 4500 lbs with him sitting in it. The truck is far from perfect but you can drive it.

1956 original cab
fiberglass tilt front end
volare front clip
73 olds 455 big block
Turbo 400 trans
Tortion bar front suspension
Front disc brakes
Ford 9" posi traction rear end
B&M shifter
Autometer phantom gauges
Firehawk indy 500 tires (235/65R15 fronts and 295/55R15 rears)
Weld solid wheels

All the gauges light up and work. The fuel gauge is reversed for some reason but it still works as it should. The glass is all intact but the pass vent window has cracks in it, the rear window has a small crack in it. The wipers do work. It has a pontiac steering wheel and steering column. It has bucket seats with covers on them. The heater works very well and the front cowl vent goes up and down. Clean and clear title in my name and the vehicle drives anywhere you want. Aftermarket flowmaster 40's that dump under the cab/beginning of the bed.

The truck is being sold as is with no warranty given, expressed, or implied

Cash only or cashiers check. I've been having issues with my paypal lately

The truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. I reserve the right to sell to the closest bidder if the reserve is not met. The closest bidder(s) will be contacted if I choose to go that route.

If you're in the Chicago area you're welcome to come by and see the truck and go for a ride with me if you like. Please contact me if you'd like to see it.

Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!!

Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan

Sat, Sep 10 2022

When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.

Mulally will stay close to Ford after he steps down, plans to advise Fields [w/video]

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has less than a week left in his role of leading the Blue Oval before he hands off duties to Mark Fields on July 1. It doesn't look like Mulally is going to be shuffling off into his retirement anytime soon, though. The 68-year-old is being rather secretive about his next move, but he tells Bloomberg in a recent interview that he plans to stay close to Ford. Also, if Fields wants to ask for any advice, Mulally is happy to help.
Mulally took over at Ford in 2006 and led the company through a seriously rough patch in the auto industry. According to Bloomberg, he became famous or his Thursday meetings where executives were forced to deal with any problems before they could leave. Since announcing his retirement from Ford in May, Mulally has been insuring a smooth transition of power by traveling the world to all of company's major locations and saying goodbye to employees and dealers.
In terms of the future at Ford, Mulally doesn't predict any big changes in management style because the rest of the executive team is staying in place. He believes that Fields is going to maintain the processes already in place to keep things going. After all, it seems to be working. The company is predicting a return to profitability in Europe next year and is opening 88 new dealers in China. If the business could get its recalls under control, things could get even better.

Saleen SA-30 Mustang, Camaro and Challenger help celebrate the big 3-0

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

After 30 years of tuning performance cars and building racecars, Saleen is celebrating its racing heritage with a limited-production car line called SA-30. Based on the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, Saleen will only build 10 of each SA-30 model at a base price of $95,000.
For that money, buyers will get upgraded suspension, brakes and engines, and while the power figures have not been released for the SA-30 620 Camaro and SA-30570 Challenger models, the SA-30 302 Mustang will be the top performer with 625 horsepower. Each car will be painted up in a custom pearl white hue with black and yellow accents, and get white wheels shrouding yellow powder-coated brake calipers. Inside, the SA-30 offerings will all get a proper Saleen interior with black leather and white Alcantara on the seats, along with the expected smattering of SA-30 badges.
On all three SA-30 models, customers will have various options available to further customize their cars, including a rear-seat delete option that transforms each car's cabin into a race-inspired interior with a chassis-strengthening rear cross brace. Perhaps the coolest feature of all, though, is the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass that is an option on the SA-30 302 Mustang. Similar to the Mercedes Sky Control roof first introduced on the Mercedes SLK, the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass allows the Mustang's optional glass roof and rear window to be switched from transparent to opaque at the push of a button.
