This magnificent rolling work of art and engineering tour de force currently located in Casa Grande, Arizona, is Calspyder's  breath-taking recreation of a '1959-'63 Ferr@ri GT 250 C@lifornia Spyder.  It was built by Dr. Mike Renucci, PhD.(eng.), who was the former head of Jaguar when it was a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Completed in late 2010, the car has only 2500 miles and it was previously prominently featured in Kit Car Magazine as the "SUPER SPYDER". It is the most powerful, fast, luxurious, and sophisticated GT that Calspyder has built to date. Any original Ferrari GT 250 Spyder that was built back in the early 1960's is now rightly a museum piece worth millions. Less than 50 are known to still exist. The original version's power plant  was a 3.0 L, 240-260 hp, SOHC V-12 engine with down-draft Webers. Despite the beautiful lines penned by Pinninfarina at the time, the original version was not really considered to be a technologically sophisticated vehicle, even when first introduced. The original GT 250 had many significant mechanical limitations if one were to compare it to a contemporary competitor from the same era, such as Jaguar's superlative XKE. The original GT 250 was hampered by a solid live rear axle, a 4-speed NON-synchromesh transmission, 4 wheel drum brakes, and it even had an imprecise worm and sector steering gear. This Super Spyder now for sale is mechanically superior to the original version in every conceivable way, but at only a fraction of the cost. This car is docile when driven judiciously, but it is VERY FAST. During engineering tests conducted in Arizona, it was confirmed that THE SUPER SPYDER WAS FASTER THAN A ZR1 IN THE QUARTER MILE AND TOP END!

The Super Spyder has the following special features:

- VIN 124BS10043340

-560bhp, 427cid, fuel injected, Windsor block, Smeding engine with roller rockers and cam.

-Oversize aluminum racing radiator.

-4 wheel disc brakes.

-Rack and Pinion steering gear.

-Richmond Gear Racing Super 5 speed (with Overdrive).

-2.47 rear gear for ULTRA-HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY CRUISING and 20 mpg on highway.

-Independent rear suspension  by C.W.I. with inboard rear discs.

-Bullet proof integrated 9 inch limited slip pumpkin.

-Air conditioned with R-2 coolant and modern Sanden compressor.

-Beautiful wood dash accents.

-True pin drive knock-off wire wheels, including spare which is mounted in the trunk.

-Period correct gauges, including H20 temp, oil pressure, oil temp, voltmeter, fuel, etc.

-Striking medium metallic blue paint. This beautiful color was a period correct option.

-Period correct leather seats and dash.

-Modern retractable seat belts.

-Windshield wipers with washer

-Wilton wool carpets.

-Detailed trunk and engine compartment.

-AM/FM/ CD stereo. (You can understand "the why" when I tell you I've NEVER turned it on!)

-Electric lift antennae.

-Electric lift windows.

-Passenger side glove box

-Perfectly working canvas top.

-Integrated Battery Tender with trunk plug in (all you need is an extension cord)

-Complete, correct, period Ferr@ri and Pinnin badges.

Spring time is approaching and now's the time to get the convertible and enjoy the season.  The only reason I'm selling is because we have a Tesla Model S being delivered and we have too many toys for the space available.  We've loved this car and want it to go to a great home.   Please feel free to email me or call if you have questions or would like to come preview the car.  77O-5 nine 5-four 387.  The Odo has stuck at 899 miles however we've put about 2500 total miles on it.  Oil was done last month and Transmission Fluid done 3 tanks of gas ago.  Serious inquiries only. Seller reserves right to end item early as it is also for sale locally.

Deposit of $1000 is due upon winning auction with balance due before taking delivery of the vehicle.  I'm happy to help with coordinating shipping however shipping is the buyers responsibility.  I have a couple of recommendations if needed.

Ferrari patent suggests one-off SP FFX

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

You remember that batch of patent drawings we brought you a couple of weeks ago showing an unspecified Ferrari coupe? The interwebs were ablaze in speculation over what the car depicted could be, and we've been watching them all until we landed on the one that seems to make the most sense.
While some speculated that this could be a new California, updated to look more like the F12 and FF, our friends over at Jalopnik suggest, with sound reason, that what we're actually looking at is what we figured in the first place: that this is a one-off FF-based coupe being built for a private customer.
Perhaps the single biggest indicator doesn't lie in the drawings themselves, but the detail that everyone else seemed to have missed: at the same time as these drawings were submitted, Ferrari filed for another patent with the Italian government for the name SP FFX and the logo pictured above.

Jeep and Ram could be spun off from FCA, says Marchionne

Thu, Apr 27 2017

Jeep is surely the biggest single feather left in the cap of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles portfolio. Under Sergio Marchionne's leadership, Jeep went from fewer than 500,000 annual sales in 2008 to 1.4 million in 2016, and is on track for 2 million by 2018. Add in the brand's legacy, status as one of the most recognizable nameplates in the world, and rabid fan base, and Jeep has extraordinary monetary value to its parent company. Investors and analysts have certainly noticed Jeep's inherent value. According to The Detroit Free Press, Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas asked FCA chief Sergio Marchionne if he would ever consider spinning Jeep and Ram, FCA's dedicated truck brand, into a separate corporate entity, and he responded with a simple "Yes." Jonas estimated Jeep's worth in January of this year at $22 billion. Ram was valued at $11.2 billion. Marchionne has a history of spinning off brands while keeping them part of FCA's corporate umbrella. The most noteworthy example of this value maximization was with Ferrari, which now trades on the New York Stock Exchange and rakes in $3.4 billion in annual revenue and close to $435 million in net income, reports the Free Press. Marchionne still serves as chairman and CEO of Ferrari, and Fiat heir John Elkann owns 22 percent of the Italian marque's shares. Even if the offloading of Jeep and Ram into a separate entity would amount to little more than a profit-driven ownership change on paper, it would be huge news to the brands' loyal fanbases. In any case, such a move would likely take years to actually happen and probably wouldn't mean much at all to the products that Jeep and Ram produce. In other words, Jeep fans can keep the pitchforks in the shed ... for now. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Ferrari reopens wind tunnel after 18-month refurb

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

Ferrari is not a company used to being behind the curve, but if you've been wondering how the Scuderia has lost so much territory on the Formula One circuit to a relative newcomer like Red Bull, part of the answer could come down to its wind tunnel.
Seriously, the wind tunnel? Yes, the wind tunnel. Aerodynamics play an increasingly vital role in F1 racing, and while Red Bull has one of the best in the business, Ferrari's hasn't been running right for some time now.
A year and a half ago Ferrari shut down the galleria del vento at its headquarters in Maranello, citing problems with "correlation" - that is, a major discrepancy between the results it got in the wind tunnel, in CFD computations and on the racetrack. Having narrowed the problem down, the Scuderia embarked upon a major overhaul. It's been using Toyota's facility in Cologne, Germany, in the meantime, but as team principal Stefano Domenicali put it, not having your own wind tunnel on premises "is like playing basketball with one hand behind your back." Now the renovations reportedly complete, however, and Ferrari will begin using its wind tunnel again next month.
