83 Dodge Ram W250 4x4 W/29,800 Original Miles, 360 Engine And 4 Sp Low Gear Tran on 2040-cars
Millville, Pennsylvania, United States
ATTENTION MOPAR ENTHUSIASTS!!! If you are looking for a near one-of-a-kind, mostly original, southern-grown, mainly rust-free where it counts Dodge Power Ram W250, with unheard of ~29,850 original miles, then you have found just what you have been searching for. I am the second owner of this hard-to-find Ram which I purchased from a dealership in Bremen, GA in Aug of 2009 from a gentleman who traded it in on a new truck. That man was the "original owner" as he purchased it at government auction with ~14,000 miles on it. He owned it for several years where he restored the interior, replaced a whole host of mechanical parts such as the carb with a new Edelbrock, water pump, etc.(I have a more complete list just not on me presently) The truck has a rare combination of a 360 V8 engine, and one the most bulletproof 4 speed, low-geared transmissions ever made. The undercarriage of the truck is impeccable for the age, as top be expected from a truck which spent most of its life in the south. I have rarely taken it out in the snow and salt of the northeast as to preserve this untainted and solid truck. The previous owner repainted the truck and I would give it a grade of C, so a professional paint job would do this truck wonders. The interior was also replaced by the owner's wife who did in my opinion, a very nice job. She added some of her own touches with Power Ram stitching on the visors and 4WD shifter boot. The original radio had been replaced with a modern JVC w/CD. The truck has factory A/C which has never blown cold since I have owned it, and I have never cared enough to get it working again. The steering wheel has been replaced with a smaller racing style one, but I have the original. The wheels are not original and have been replaced with chrome 17" rims. Tires have ~3/32 of tread on them and will need to be replaced soon. The catalytic converter has long been gone from original owner and was not necessary for inspection in GA. In summary, this truck can be made into a real gem with minimal efforts as the core of the truck including body, frame, low miles, 4X4, engine and tranny, interior, all glass is perfect, and overall mechanical condition for the age is way above average. Some of the things which will need a little TLC include some exhaust hangers which recently broke and will need to be replaced, a tune-up may be in order replacing the plugs and wires, a professional paint job, and some of the rubber around the vents may need to be replaced as the driver side window and or vent whistles and leaks a bit. Some final thoughts to consider: I drove this truck home over 900 miles from Bremen, GA to NE PA when I purchased it, and had absolutely no issues. The engine runs great, transmission and four-wheel drive work perfect, brakes are to my knowledge acceptable, and the truck looses very little oil over an extended period time. I am selling this truck against my true wishes but unfortunately need the money more than the truck. Both myself and my young son enjoy this truck very much and my goal was to pass it onto him when he is older, but that is just not in the cards at this time. If you have any questions, feel free to call me on my cell at 570-954-0952 and my name is Steve. Bid with confidence and you will not be sorry should you win. Title in hand and available for show with appointment.

2014 Dodge Durango
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Say what you want about the Dodge Durango, but ever since it came on the scene in 1998, it has occupied its own niche in the SUV market - not too small, not too big, tough, able, not always the best on the road and not always the best off-road. If it were a football player, it would be a tight-end that can block and catch. If it were a hamburger - a double burger with cheese and bacon, but not the Whopper.
As part of a mid-cycle upgrade for what was already a very capable SUV that Chrysler introduced in 2011, and built on the same platform as the Mercedes GL-Class and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2014 Durango has gotten some refinements worth noting that have cleaned up its tailoring and toned up its body and powerplant. The result is an SUV that shows itself to be a very good value in a category full of sticker prices that can run away faster than a kid who's been told he has to take ballroom dancing lessons.
Chrysler executives showing us the new Durango made a special point to reiterate that the Dodge brand is not going away, as has been rumored after the company took the Ram and Viper - the cream of the brand - out from under the Dodge umbrella. Turns out Dodge has been the brand attracting the most young people (who knew?) and has a younger average age buyer than Honda. The Dodge brand historically has also attracted buyers who aren't exactly Phi-Beta Cappa, which some companies worry about. Chrysler not so much. Dodge buyers tend to be more the working, high-school-educated, community-college-educated backbone of the work force in America. If they keep coming to Dodge, the Durango is a pretty good piece of hardware to save up for.
Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too
Thu, 22 Nov 2012The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep
Thu, 30 May 2013The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
