Dodge Challenger Rt Classic B5 Blue on 2040-cars
Harlingen, Texas, United States
In 2009, Dodge offered a "Challenger R/T Classic" model to celebrate the re-release of their iconic musclecar. The R/T Classic included 20" chrome retro-style wheels, a retro R/T Side Stripe, retro Script badging, and a limited number were available in B5 Blue, just like they were in 1970. Dodge manufactured a total of 31,500 Challengers in 2009 before Chrysler halted production due to the economy. Only 759 Challengers were produced in B5 Blue that year, and only 523 of those were the R/T Classic. That's just 1.66% of production. After their financing was secured and their marriage to Fiat was arranged, a few more Challengers may have rolled off the line, but it is believed that none of these were B5 Blue as their production run had already ended. Of the 523 B5 Blue R/T Classics produced, 244 came with manual transmissions (this one) and 279 came with automatics. These cars aren't numbered like Dodge's other "Limited Edition" cars such as the Charger Daytona (of which thousands are produced). These are "Sleeper Collectibles". Very limited production insures long-term desirability, and this is a 1-in-244 car. And it's highly-optioned to boot. There's even an "Easter Egg" in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) in the form of a resettable 0-60 MPH timer.
The standard features on this R/T Classic are:
In addition, this car was manufactured with the following options:
B5 Blue Pearl Coat Exterior Paint ($225)
Customer Preferred Package 27M ($3,460)
Interior Appearance Group by MOPAR $565Premium Floor Mats with Logo by MOPAR Car Cover by MOPAR Bright door sill guards by MOPAR
Electronic Convenience Group ($1,260)
6-Speed manual transmission ($995) Track Pak 3.73 Axle Ratio Anti-spin differential rear axle Bright accelerator, brake and clutch pedals Hill start assist
AM/FM/CD/DVD/HDD/MP3 ($535)
Compact spare tire ($100)
Low-mileage, and the best upgrades are included on this car. The Challenger has a SMS 296 Supercharger that was installed at Hennessey in February of 2010. The front license plate holes are untapped. The windows aren't even tinted. The oil has been changed every 3000 miles.
Since purchased, this car has been garage kept under the original car cover. It has only ever been hand-washed, top-to-bottom, since I've owned it. I purchased this car "new" with 3 miles on it. 2000 miles are break-in highway from dealership to my house, to Hennessey and back for the supercharger installation.
A 90 milimeter throttle body and Hop Not kit were installed in 2010. The SMS 296 supercharger cost $7,500 in 2009 and the installation was another $3,169. I added the 85 mm pulley ($600) to get the boost to over 6 psi. The new dyno run showed 502 rear rear horse power vs the 456 from Hennesey with just the supercharger back in February 2010. Please feel to email with any questions you have.
Thanks, Chris |

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
Sunday Drive: The future looks bright, and the present ain't bad, either
Sun, Oct 1 2017A look at the week that just passed proves that Autoblog readers love looking into the future. Spy photos of the next Porsche 911 and a mysterious Dodge Demon prototype led the way last week as some of our most popular stories. A teaser from Subaru has our appetites whetted for the next WRX, and we're intrigued by the value proposition offered by the rear-wheel-drive Kia Stinger. Long-distance motorcycle tourers went gaga over leaked images of the next Honda Gold Wing. Such intense interest comes as no surprise considering that it's the standard by which all its competitors are judged, and it looks to be getting some serious new technology in its next iteration. And finally, we can't help tooting our own horn a bit. Autoblog just launched a brand-new Car Finder tool, which, after getting a few data points to work with, offers up a perfect list of vehicles for new-car buyers. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Porsche 911 to get digital interior — only the tach will be analog Spy Shots: What the devil is Dodge up to with this narrow-body Challenger Demon? NHTSA investigating Ram 1500 models for rear differential failure
Mon, 30 Jun 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and its Ram brand following a number of reports regarding the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. According to 15 consumer complaints, the trucks' rear differential locked up while in other cases, the driveshaft separated at its connection to the diff.
Nearly half of the reports claim the truck was traveling at or above 50 miles per hour, while two consumers reported that the diff lockup/driveshaft separation sent their pickups into a spin. Most troubling, though, is that consumers reported little to no sound indicating there was a problem with their truck.
We reached out to Ram for additional information, such as how many vehicles may be affected or what equipment might be fitted that could cause the issue. Unfortunately, the company wasn't willing to elaborate on specifics.
