Chrysler was said to have developed the Crown Imperial Sedan to compete with the Cadillac Sixty Special. The owner of this Chrysler has owned both, and much prefers the drive of the Imperial.

If your looking to find a car that is almost guaranteed no one else will have, then here is your chance to own this amazing 1941 Chrysler Imperial. It is believed to be one of only six known to remain and is also one of only two that are still in service.

One of 894 built, this 1941 Chrysler Crown Imperial was sold in Hartford, Connecticut and remained there for 50 years. It has been designated as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America.

The Town Sedan model of the Chrysler Imperial, was produced for only one year.  It was not the most popular series , more than likely due to it's price. Very few cars from this generation still can stand in glory in its current form. This Chrysler is going to exceed all car show expectations for years to come.

The wide white wall tires were replaced in 2011. At that same time, the carburetor, starter, and water pump were rebuilt.

The exterior first grabs your attention with the massive chromed horizontal grill. It flows flawlessly towards both the front headlights and above the gorgeous front bumper, which is also chromed.

The black paint is in better condition than you may expect considering how old the car is. The car retians much of it's original paint, with just some touch up on the fenders done several years ago. Large white wall tires wrap around the factory steel wheels, which are finished off by a chromed dish hubcaps.

The interior is where much of the style, class and beauty will be found. Most of the interior, like the steering wheel, dash, wood grain and upholstery has been recreated to match the original look.  Peroid brochres were used in the restoration of the interior to bring it as close to original as possible.

The owner sent the dash and all of the wood grain parts to Bob Kennedy in California, known for his outstanding work on classic woodies, he actually repainted and cleared all of the wood grain to recreate the original look.

The owner also decided to have his entire interior reupholstered and chose to have Village Upholstery and the services of it's owner Larry Hankins do the work. You can see the results. The interior is outstanding.

The fluid drive works very well in this outstanding car.

The radio is working as it was back in 1941, all of the gauges and each and every option available as well. 1941was the first year for power windows, and it is common to have issues with this system. The owner had all of the components rebuilt in 2011/12. However the passenger side front window does not work as well as it should. All others opperate just fine.

There is plenty of chrome trim located all over the car from front to rear. The front emblem, side moldings, even along side the foot boards are in very good condition.

Man escapes attempted carjacking and catches the incident on his dashcam

Fri, Dec 9 2016

(Warning: video contains strong language. Viewer discretion is advised.) A quick-thinking driver avoided a potentially dangerous situation this week in New Mexico when he evaded and attempted car jacking. On the evening of December 6, an unnamed man accompanied a friend to a market near the intersection of Central and San Mateo in Albuquerque. After he saw his friend safely away in her car, he got back into his and pulled out of the parking lot. Almost immediately, as shown in dashcam footage uploaded to Youtube, a red Chrysler 300 began following him. When the driver pulled up to a stop sign around the block from the market, the Chrysler zipped around and pulled in front of him, blocking his forward progress. Figuring he was about to be carjacked, the driver threw the car into reverse and backed quickly away from the Chrysler. The Chrysler followed, and a chase ensured. With the Chrysler close on his tail, the unnamed driver fled through the nearly empty streets. At one point he cut through a gas station when the Chrysler tried to block him at another intersection. As they drove through the city the Chrysler continually tried to stop the fleeing driver, but he successfully evaded every time. The driver called 911 and reported his predicament. Eventually, both vehciles pulled up at a stop light right next to an Albuquerque Police cruiser. The driver laid on the horn to get the cop's attention, then jumped out to tell the cop what was going on. The Chrysler then made a run for it with the cop in hot pursuit. Unfortunately, the red Chrysler evaded the APD and the car's license plate was obscured so the APD was unable to identify the vehicle or its occupants. Thankfully no one was hurt during the chase, and the driver was able to get home safe and sound. Carjacking is a serious crime. The driver in this video did everything right, except maybe delay calling the police a little too long. The crime is so prevalent that the US Department of Justice has tips for avoiding carjacking. They suggest drivers avoiding stopping when signaled by other drivers or assisting during an accident. Calling the authorities should be your first step if you're every followed or harassed while driving. Head to the nearest police station if you can't get a hold of a cop in time. Labor Day: A look back at the largest UAW strikes in history

Thu, Mar 12 2015

American made is almost an anachronism now, but good manufacturing jobs drove America's post-war economic golden age. Fifty years ago, if you held a job on a line, you were most likely a member of a union. And no union was more powerful than the United Auto Workers. Before the slow decline in membership started in the 1970s, the UAW had over 1.5 million members and represented workers from the insurance industry to aerospace and defense. The UAW isn't the powerhouse it once was. Today, just fewer than 400,000 workers hold membership in the UAW. Unions are sometimes blamed for the decline of American manufacturing, as companies have spent the last 30 years outsourcing their needs to countries with cheap labor and fewer requirements for the health and safety of their workers. Unions formed out of a desire to protect workers from dangerous conditions and abject poverty once their physical abilities were used up on the line; woes that manufacturers now outsource to poorer countries, along with the jobs. Striking was the workers' way of demanding humane treatment and a seat at the table with management. Most strikes are and were local affairs, affecting one or two plants and lasting a few days. But some strikes took thousands of workers off the line for months. Some were large enough to change the landscape of America. 1. 1936-1937 Flint Sit-Down Strike In 1936, just a year after the UAW formed and the same year they held their first convention, the union moved to organize workers within a major manufacturer. For extra oomph, they went after the largest in the world – General Motors. UAW Local 174 president Walter Reuther focused on two huge production facilities – one in Flint and one in Cleveland, where GM made all the parts for Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Chevrolet. Conditions in these plants were hellish. Workers weren't allowed bathroom breaks and often soiled themselves while standing at their stations. Workers were pushed to the limit on 12-14 hour shifts, six days a week. The production speed was nearly impossibly fast and debilitating injuries were common. In July 1936, temperatures inside the Flint plants reached over 100 degrees, yet managers refused to slow the line. Heat exhaustion killed hundreds of workers. Their families could expect no compensation for their deaths. When two brothers were fired in Cleveland when management discovered they were part of the union, a wildcat strike broke out.

Fiat Chrysler's profit boosted by Ram and Jeep in North America

Wed, Jul 31 2019

MILAN/DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler took the market by surprise by sticking to its full-year profit guidance on Wednesday after a strong performance from its Ram pickup truck in North America helped it defy an industry slowdown. Chief Executive Mike Manley, in FCA's first earnings release since a failed attempt to merge with France's Renault, also left the door open to that or other deals. "We are open to opportunity," Manley said on a call with analysts. "I have no doubt why there still would be interest in it," he added, when pressed on what it would take to revive talks with Renault. Manley declined to comment further. FCA last month abandoned its $35 billion merger offer for Renault, blaming French politics for scuttling what would have been a landmark deal to create the world's third-biggest automaker. Manley said a merger was not a must-have and Fiat Chrysler's business plan was strong. The company said it remained confident its adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) would top last year's 6.7 billion euros ($7.5 billion). Given disappointing forecasts from other automakers this earnings season, FCA's confirmation of the outlook sent Milan-listed shares in the Italian-American automaker, whose other brands include Jeep, up over 4%. A broad-based auto sales downturn has rattled the sector, forcing FCA's competitors — including Renault, Daimler and Aston Martin — to cut their sales forecasts after second-quarter results, while U.S. carmaker Ford gave a weaker-than-expected 2019 profit outlook. Japan's Nissan, a long-term partner of Renault, said it would cut 12,500 jobs by 2023 after its earnings collapsed. In the second quarter FCA's adjusted EBIT totaled 1.52 billion euros, versus analysts' expectations of 1.43 billion euros, according to a Reuters poll. FCA's U.S. shipments were down 12% in the second quarter but the group said that the successful performance of its Ram brand resulted in an enhanced share of the large pickup truck market of 27.9%, up 7 percentage points from last year. Adjusted EBIT margin in North America rose to 8.9% from 6.5% in the first quarter, thanks to strong demand for the heavy-duty Ram and the new Jeep Gladiator pickup. Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer also said FCA expected to report up to 10% margins in the region in both the third and fourth quarters.
