1996 Chevy Silverado Truck on 2040-cars
East Lansing, Michigan, United States
This is an old Chevy truck, blue with blue cloth interior. 142,000 miles. I am the second owner. I bought it at 99,000 miles. I have replaced the downpipe, muffler, and exhaust system. In just the last two months, I have put in a new fuel pump and new brake lines. But here is the bad part: there is some type of "leaking seal" in the back axle or the back part of the transmission or something that is leaking. I took it to a Chevy dealership and they said that they could NOT fix it. They just filled up the transmission fluid. They said they would have to replace the back axle to fix it basically! I'm not a mechanic kind of person so I don't really understand what's wrong, but when they said they couldn't fix it, I know that's a problem! They said that I would have to replace this "fluid" with every oil change from now on. And that's not too often, but still it's a problem. Please DON'T buy this truck unless you have some vague idea what might be wrong, or unless you are a mechanic. I'm not trying to dump this on anybody, but the truck runs great and so I figure maybe someone can use it or fix it. The interior is cloth and is in great shape with no tears in the upholstery. It can be both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive, but does not switch on the fly and has to be in park to go from 2W to 4W drive. If you live in the East Lansing Michigan area, the truck is parked in the Marian Fitness center parking lot at 3054 Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing, Michigan, so you can go see it up close and take a look. Thanks.

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car
Thu, 14 Feb 2013It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]
Wed, 15 May 2013We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."
