Today we have listed a super nice, ultra straight and absolutely nice driving 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Super Sport hardtop. This car has an amazing level of detail and finish - everywhere just straight, clean, tidy, and well built - and has one of the straightest, most rust free bodies I have ever seen in a 60's Chevy. This is a hop in and drive it anytime, any place kind of car, and one you could drive home today, though if you live very far away with the winter weather and rock on the road, would suggest another method..... As you look at these pictures please take into consideration that it's not been cleaned up, polished, detailed, vacuumed or waxed for the pictures - there is no phony detailing or rattle can paint done here - what you see is how it's been kept, period. This car belongs to a friend of mine, and I am listing it for him. I will do my best to describe it so that you feel you know it, and to point out any and all problems (darn few). It's hard to show the total story of this car in the words I use, but I have added as many pictures as possible - I tried to use pictures that covered the overall feel and look of the car - it was a pretty gray day when these pictures were shot (just this Thursday), so they aren't as bright and crisp as they could be with some more sunlight. I use lower resolution so that anyone in the world can download them with relative ease. Please be aware that this car is advertised and for sale locally, nationally and globally, and we do reserve the right to end this auction at any time if the vehicle sells before auction ends. This Super Sport is definitely for sale and definitely on the money price wise. If you are SERIOUS about the car - please call my cell # 503.580.6225 if I don't answer the first time - try again later - if I am at work I may not be able to answer your call. Please be considerate of the time. We have little ones that need to get their sleep. This is an honest turn key super solid, well built, well thought through car that will give years of joy, and fun to any family, couple or individual. Buy it today and be the envy of those who hesitated and missed it.

1964 - an awesome year for muscle cars, and truly the dawn of a new era. Chevrolet's then new Chevelle series was really more of a 'big brother'; to the pony cars - but with it's full frame construction as opposed to the unibody type construction of the pony cars - they really drove, and still drive nicely - and completely different than the sub frame or no frame cars. This 1964 SS - Super Sport Model Chevelle Malibu began life as a six cylinder manual transmission 3-speed floor shift car. the people who had the car restored sought out the nicest, most rust free example they could find - and this was it. There were only 7934 produced in the 6 cylinder, and who knows how many manual trans. The cool thing I have found with the 6's (I own a 6 powered '64 Camino) is that they are super solid, and have not been 'abused' like most all of the 8's were - which appears to be the case here with how laser straight and tight this car is.  The cowl tag tells us that  it's a 64 SS Sport Coupe (64-5737) as does the first portion of the VIN - 45737. The car was built in the Fremont California plant (H in the VIN) and it was the 1568th down that line. I believe this to be a very early production SS car by the Fisher body sequential production/body code, and it could have been one of the first for the public. The car was originally white (CCC paint code) with blue interior (741 trim) and was a pretty basic equipped car with Deluxe seat belts (A37). We don't know the whole history of the car, but we do know it's most likely an 82K mile car, and it is absolutely rust and rot free. Check out the floor pan pics, the rockers etc - this has one of the most amazing original floor pans I have ever seen, as these cars were very prone to rusting on the floors, rockers, fenders around the windows etc. This car shows no evidence of tha ever. The thing I love about these cars is that they can be bad boy muscle cars, customs, or more stock looking, and really all they need is a subtle tweak here and there - tires and wheels especially - chrome reverses or Astros and a narrow white and you have a mild custom. Big inch rollers, and you have a pro touring restomod. Rally wheels or even steelies and caps and you have  a more stock look. Leave it alone and have fun is yet another option. The car looks great as is sits - I love the rake - just a slight drop or rake to the front. If they get too high in the back the proportions easily get all 'wonky'. This has the perfect stance, maybe a squeak more tire height in the back, but thats about it. When it comes to a car looking 'right' - stance is everything - and this SS has a great stance!  Let's go through the car from the engine and on throughout. The engine is a Chevrolet crate 350. Not certain of the horsepower, but do know that it has a different cam. The engine has about 7k miles on it - as does the rest of the restoration, and all the work was done at about 75k miles. The carburetor is a Carter AFB 9635SA which is a 4 barrel square bore 625 CFM unit with electric choke - this is topped with an Edelbrock triangular finned aluminum air cleaner with a oilable element. It sits on an Edelbrock Victor Jr. dual plane aluminum intake. The ignition is HEI and it puts spark out through a nice set of Taylor wires. The valve covers are a really nice bowtie polished aluminum tall set, and the wire looms are polished aluminum also. The exhaust is handled by headers, to a really nice and cleanly done 2 1/2 inch exhaust and out through Flowmaster mufflers, exiting through a nicely done set of stealthy tailpipes. The exhaust note is healthy - though not obnoxious, the cam lope is really sweet, and the car just sounds as nice as it looks. Heads turn when people hear it! The radiator is a heavy duty custom made unit, with a custom made and nice fitting shroud, flex fan and also backed up by a pusher electric fan unit on the front side. It runs about 170 degrees and I could find no issue at all with overheating or even attempting to get warm. The engine is nicely detailed all through with nice bits and nice fasteners and hasn't been cleaned or pressure washed - just kept like this. A chromed one wire alternator handles the charging duties and there is a built in onboard 1.5 volt trickle charger set up - just plug it in!  The transmission was redone 7k miles ago too, and is a turbo 350 with a mild kit, a remote mounted cooler (under the RH floor pan) and has it's own electric pusher fan. The trans is shifted by a like new B&M shifter with reverse lockout, and it will operate as a 'slapshift' if you want to shift it manually. The car has a working neutral safety switch and only starts in park or neutral just like it should. The driveline was specially built, and is balanced with new U joints installed at time of car build. The differential is a 10 bolt positraction unit, and the gears are either a 3:42 or 3:73, not sure which. The diff is quiet, and does it's thing as it should, no leaks or issues. Gas tank has most likely been replaced, as the neck looks like brand new, no dents in it and it's super clean inside. The entire powertrain is cohesive - and works together well. The car is a joy to drive whether you put it in D and go, or shift it manually and lean on it, yes, I've done both. The brakes are power disc up front with a proportioning valve and a dual reservoir master cylinder for safe and sure stopping. out back standard drums. All bushings were redone at time of rebuild, front to back. The car stops straight, and well - no pulsing, and no pulling. Very nice. The wheels are 15 inch Center Lines front 6" and rear 8" and carry 195-65R/15 up front and 265-50R/15 out back. Tread is consistent with a 7k mile driven vehicle, and have tons of tread. No one has been 'smoking the hides' much, if at all. Steering is power, and gives a good road feel. I have spent some time driving the car around - and it's got guts, drives like a dream and the more I drive it - the more I like it - which is opposite of so many cars that I drive and photograph. You can tell by the pictures that someone took their time, and thought out what was done. Inside is super nice and clean as well. Everything has been touched - and if you notice all the stock stitching cues have been retained in the upholstery throughout the seating and the door panels, with some subtly done bowties. The car smells fresh inside, and no signs of ever having been smoked in. All weatherstripping and window fuzzies are new at time of resto/build. All glass is nice, and the windshield replaced - all glass was out at time of build, and resealed. The rear window has no leakage issues, and appears to never have had. Speedometer/odometer works. All wiring is new. The steering wheel is a LeCarra two tone leather unit with a tasteful Chevy bowtie horn button/wheel center. The car has nice and what appears to be near new and up to date/modern seatbelts front and rear. The doors lock with the key as they should as does the glove box. Door hinges have no issues. Dome light works. Headlights are halogen - and all match (a detail often overlooked!) The outside mirrors are bowtie type right and left. Wipers work, and the motor is fresh. Horns work - and they have a new relay. In fact just about everything that has been added to the car electrically has a relay - the absolute best way to do it. Gauges other than the factory fuel gauge (which works) are Autometer Sport Comp - Tach, oil pressure, voltage meter, temp gauge - all match and are all Auto Meter. I am not certain of the significance of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo on the dash - maybe someone can 'shine the light there'.  Stereo duties are handled by an AM/FM CD Pioneer Super Tuner III that is XM ready, into Pioneer 4 way coax speakers mounted in the rear deck, and also to an Eclipse PA5422 amp and Nakamichi Sub woofer that are both nicely trunk mounted right next to a fire extinguisher. The trunk carries a factory type mat and a full size spare and is super clean and well detailed, though I would do it in a factory type splatter paint if it were my car - the paint finish in the trunk and trunk jambs is specatcular - and there is not bubbling, or overspray with any of the body color yellow in that area, or really anywhere. Cooling and heating inside the car are taken care of by a Vintage air A/C and Heat unit - that is controlled with factory controls. These Vintage Air units are some of the best on the market, and everything on this one is pro installed, and functions as it should - the Air conditioning is ice cold, and the heat works well too - it was freezing the day I took the photos, and it came in handy. We only need or use air conditioning here in Oregon in the summer months and sometimes into the Fall, but it's pretty cool to have when we need it - and will be cool for you when you need it as well. All of this work, as well as any of the work done to this car, has been done well - nothing that is second rate, or hacked. This is not, nor has it been some 'kid's car' - not picking on young folks, but you get what I mean. Too many of these cars have had the heck beat out of them by people who aren't as responsible with a vehicle or just use them as appliances. Someone spent some money here. The whole interior is just nice, it's clean, and it works. Easy to change out if you want, but as it sits it's just great!! Outside the thought process continues - and as one looks deeper they say 'well done'. The body and paint are just amazing. I can't say enough about how straight and crisp the bodywork lines are - and how flat and free of orange peel the paint is. There are no rust bubbles or signs of popping out anywhere - which says a lot for a 7 or so year old paint job. Very few mods have been made here - one thing the owner did not like was the small trim that ran up the rear quarters, and all down the body. That was eliminated, and if you dig really deep, you can tell it was there on the inside of the panels - this trim is specific to the SS cars, and can throw people off - but make no mistake, this is a true SS Malibu. Bumpers have/has either been replaced or re-chromed - same with lenses etc. Most of the stainless other than the fender lip moldings appears to be original though. no pitting on handles and emblems. Not certain of the color code, but it's more of a Corvette yellow than the pale of 1964. The floor pans are simply amazing. This car has been dry kept, or desert, or somewhere with not much moisture. There's a little moisture been between the vinyl trunk mat in the last few years, but that is pretty typical of vinyl over metal - mostly just discoloring though. Look close at the pictures of the floor pans - truly amazing. There has been no rattle can detailing done here on this car, no undercoat sprayed. You will not find a more honest car, nor a more rust free example anywhere, at any price. I would consider the body and paint work on this car to be upper echelon - high dollar. Check the pictures of the body lines and creases - this is where many of these cars are weak - the body lines on this car are crisp and straight, everywhere. The rear quarters, which have a gentle outward bow towards the middle are as close to flawless as possible, and are simply beautiful. It's my contention that the car was mega straight to begin with, and it's laser straight now. We could find no apparent signs of accident damage and or repair on either the body of the chassis. The entire front sheet metal has been off - and painted, reassembled with all stainless steel fasteners & the firewall and inner fenders are shinier than many outside paint jobs on many cars out there. So - my overall take on this car is that someone spent a LOT of time, and money on it. This car took me longer to photograph than usual, as it drew a crowd, everywhere I parked it - and we had to wait for the people to get done looking to snap a picture - I can't say this enough, the entire build on this car is crisp, and clean - is very sanitary and everything works. It's well done from any angle - and there is no way you could even begin to build it for the reserve price. So is the car perfect? No, but it's nicer than it was new, and it has 7k miles on the redo - but it has obviously been cared for meticulously, and carefully - and it's super super nice. I cannot emphasize this enough. This is a car that you could show and win trophies with - drive and have fun with, involve the family, and at the same time maintain the value of the investment. These classic muscle cars are better than money in the bank - and unlike so many things, will make you money in the long run. This car could easily go through a place like Barrett Jackson and bring significantly more than we are asking. It's not for the shy - as you will be asked a TON of questions - you will get more smiles, thumbs up, and glances than you can even imagine. The value is here, the timing is right. Leave it alone, make a mild custom, Pro Touring, personalize it or not - whatever you do, you have an awesome start or an awesome completed car as it sits. This SS Malibu needs and deserves a new home, and hopefully it finds one here. Pacific Wonderland license plates will stay here unless the car is sold in Oregon.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will answer questions to the best of our ability.

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.

Is Buick's surprise Detroit concept a Camaro-sized coupe?

Tomorrow night marks the unofficial start of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Keep your eyes peeled for a number of reveals, including a surprise debut from Buick. Yes, Buick. And we think it's going to be something really hot. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Tri-Shield's secret car could be a Camaro-sized sport coupe concept. As Bloomberg explains, it'd certainly gel with the impression the company is trying to put out – that it's no longer a brand for those with one foot in the grave. Introducing a sports coupe, even as a concept, could certainly reinforce that message. And if it happens to make production – which is not a certainty, Bloomberg's secret source says – it could certainly help Buick drive its average buyer age down from 59. Bloomberg doesn't offer any speculation on Buick's new coupe, but we have no problem making educated guesses. Our most reliable conjecture is this: it will ride on General Motors' Alpha platform, which underpins both the Camaro and the Cadillac ATS. And with a certain twin-turbocharged V6 in the GM stable, we've got an idea of what kind of engine could be shown. That speculation will have to suffice for now. But don't worry, we'll have official details, live images, and video tomorrow when Buick unveils its new concept in Detroit's Eastern Market.

GM recalls 3.6 million vehicles for airbag-software problems

Fri, Sep 9 2016

The Basics: General Motors is recalling 3.64 million vehicles across its lineup for an airbag-related issue. The recall covers the 2014-2015 Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet SS, and Spark EV; 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Trax, Caprice PPV, Silverado 1500, Buick Encore, and GMC Sierra 1500; and 2015-2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado HD, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra HD, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV. The Problem: Affected vehicles have a sensing and diagnostic module that controls the airbags and seat-belt pretensioners. The software it uses has a defect that can prompt the module to run a diagnostic test under specific driving conditions, which will also deactivate the front airbags and pretensioners. This means that it would be possible for those safety systems to not activate in a crash, potentially leading to injury or death. Injuries/Deaths: General Motors began an investigation that led to the recall after a 2014 Silverado was involved in a crash in which the airbags did not deploy. No information was given as to injuries or deaths. The Fix: Owners can bring their vehicles to a local General Motors dealer where a software update will be installed to fix the issue. The fix will be free of charge. If you own one: General Motors will contact owners of affected cars, and owners can check whether their vehicles are affected by visiting entering their vehicle identification numbers at either the GM Owner Center website or the NHTSA website. Owners can then schedule a time to have the update installed. Related Video:
