1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop with 283 V-8, Powerglide Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, and the most beautiful black paint you ever saw!

.

A tremendously beautiful car - that black paint is stunning, accented by the correct and authentic red interior.

.

My Favorite part of the '57 Chevy Styling is the rear quarter panel trim - so flashy, so Fifties, and on this car, so beautiful!

.

Arrow Straight bodywork too.

.

Beautiful grille emblem, and I love the Gold Anodyzed trim, just like it was when it left the factory.

.

Beautiful Chrome!

.

Wow! Look at that interior! Correct colors and fabrics, and a spectacular dashboard

.

Look how nice the doorjamb is, and the fresh weatherstripping.

.

Beautiful Dashboard

.

More beautiful Dashboard

.

Excellent door jamb right side.

.

The Brilliance of the Hardtop design, with no post to interfere with your view, is evident here.

.

Wow! Beautiful and correct.

283 V-8, nicely restored and finished like it would have been at the factory, with correct air cleaner and 4 barrel carburetor. I don't guarantee matching numbers, although the engine stamp ( T123F) is correct for a '57 283 with 2 barrel.

.

Nicely finished engine bay.

.

Pretty engine. I noted That, although the hood hinges were restored, the springs are a bit weak, and the hood needs an assist to stay open.

.

Clean!

.

Trim Tag.

.

Nice Clean and correct trunk area. The trunk pan sheetmetal is Solid and rust free, too.

.

Nicely finished trunk lid

.

Jack included

.

Also included are a nice pair of fenderskirts and a car cover

.

Here's the right side, showing off all that beautiful sheetmetal

.

OK now that we have a nice clean Epoxy Floor, I can get these photos without ruining my shirt! New Gas tank and exhaust system. It's fairly clean underneath, although it is quite obviously not a frame-off restoration effort, rather a high quality frame-on restoration.

.

Rockers and floors look nice, solid and original.

.

Here's the other side, looking good

.

The engine oil pan, aluminized exhaust, and steering apparatus

.

Although the trim is beautiful, I noted some flaws / dings in the stainless trim here and there, you can see an example in this photo on the lower stainless trim.

.

Again, beautiful trim but not perfect trim.

.

The chrome was all redone, but I noted a few scratches in the back bumper. Hard to see in the photo but they're there.

.

It's a spectacular car, with great colors, and an excellent driving experience. It runs and drives great, and can be enjoyed and admired by everyone right now!

First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 engine blows up at just 891 miles

Thu, Jan 1 2015

You've waited and watched and waited some more for the arrival of your 650-horsepower, $78,000 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Finally, that joyous day arrives and you eagerly, but gingerly, begin to break-in the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 monster under your hood. Then 900-odd miles after delivery, your excitement grinds, quite literally, to a halt. That's what the owner of one 2015 Z06 claimed happened to him when a simple break-in drive resulted in a lunched engine. The owner, known as Lawdogg149 on Corvette Forum, says he was out breaking-in his car ahead of a January track event when it happened. "While making a pull from 35 miles per hour, I accelerated and shifted short of redline, and boom - the car began knocking. I pulled over and popped the hood. I could hear a loud knock coming from the No. 6 cylinder area along with a serious, grinding, metal-on-metal sound coming from the supercharger area," Lawdogg wrote. A subsequent trip to the dealer confirmed his concerns, with the service facility telling Lawdogg that the No. 6 valvetrain had failed. The dealer couldn't research the issue further, though, as General Motors requested the engine be returned for a more thorough evaluation. The good news for the Z06's unlucky owner, at least, is that GM will be covering the engine replacement under warranty, an expense that Corvette Forum estimates is a nearly $24,000 procedure. At this point, the two leading theories behind the engine's detonation involve a manufacturing defect – which could be why GM is so keen to tear the blown powerplant down – or a mistake on the part of Lawdogg. As Motor Authority points out, such an error could be something as simple as the Z06's owner accidentally shifting to first rather than third during his 35-mph pull. If, however, there's a deeper manufacturing problem with the Z06's engine, this might not be the only case we end up hearing about.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.

Chevy Spark EV could be coming to Midwest later this year

Tue, Jun 10 2014

Ohio is not known as a hotbed of EV sales – if anything, the state is a bit anti-EV, thanks to a legislative fight against Tesla's direct sales model – but it might be on Chevrolet's short list to expand the market for the Spark EV in the near future. The latest official GM press release on the battery-powered Spark still says the car is "available exclusively in California and Oregon," but Hybrid Cars found four Ohio dealerships that list a Spark EV on their websites, with hints the the car will be coming to the Midwest state by the end of the summer. See, for example, here, here, here and here. But that's probably not going to happen, according to Randy Fox, GM communication's manager for passenger cars. Fox told AutoblogGreen that, "At this point in time, we don't have any official plans to expand the Spark EV beyond California and Oregon." The reason is that California and Oregon have the infrastructure to support EVs, Fox said, and GM wants to be able to support its EV customers. "We are continuing to look at other options," he said. "The selling point for electric cars today is not advertising, it's eyeballs, it's peer exposure" – John O'Dell John O'Dell, a senior editor at Edmunds.com, told AutoblogGreen that, "It makes sense for [GM] to expand sales and it makes sense to do it in a quiet manner, to get these vehicles on the road. The selling point for electric cars today is not advertising, it's eyeballs, it's peer exposure. If someone in my neighborhood has one and he likes it, then maybe I can trust him. So it's important to get these vehicles on the road." Chevy sold 182 Spark EVs last month, a significant increase over the 98 sold in April. That's still small potatoes compared to the 3,000+ Nissan Leaf EVs sold last month, but making the electric Spark available in Ohio, say, or GM's home state of Michigan could boost those numbers. AutoblogGreen called a few dealerships in Michigan to see what they had heard. One salesman said he didn't think GM had started production yet but the inventory manager for another dealership said the Spark EV is scheduled to arrive in the Midwest in "roughly the fourth quarter." What would GM's incentive be to offer the car in markets outside of California where it can gain ZEV credits with each sale?
