2004 Audi TT Quattro, Papaya Orange, Coupe, 1.8, 6 speed Manual

225 HP, Twin Intercoolers, All Wheel Drive
( 1 of 39 Papaya Orange TT's delivered to North America)*** [See below in "Overall" section]

Back Story: I purchased this TT in April of 2009 on Auto trader.com.  I drive my TT to work  4 miles each way or 8 miles round trip daily. I keep it in the Garage, and take care of the car.  I use premium gas, and have the oil changed regularly. I would consider myself to be "obsessive" on keeping my car maintained, clean and "happy".   I saw my first TT in Berlin of 1999 and fell in love with the car...and said...one day! 10 years later...I got the Car and the COLOR I wanted!

Obvious Question:  "Why, would you sell your TT if you LOVE it so much"?

Answer:   I had several financial hits in a row... personal, medical, and on the TT.

REPAIRS:  The timing belt broke at a stop light back in April (60 days ago). $5300.00 in parts and labor later I have a repaired engine, with several new components under warranty*. (The Parts have a one year/ 12,000 mile warranty, through Gunther VW, in Buford, Georgia.  I confirmed with service department, as long as the car is taken to a VW dealership with a certified Service Center the parts and labor are covered).  While the engine was out the technician showed me where a coolant hose to the Turbo was leaking, so it was replaced.  I have all the receipts from the repairs.  which of course you will get.    A week after I picked up the TT, the shifting was odd...and as bad luck would have it... 2 shifting forks broke (after the entire drive train was removed and inspected) so those were replaced with new parts. While the Drivetrain was removed, the entire clutch assembly was worn beyond limits, so that too was replaced with new parts.  The next thing to "fail" was the drivers window switch...and that too was replaced with a new switch.   So for ease of seeing what is new on the TT, I will list them here from the most recent to first items replaced. The CV Boots were also worn beyond limits and were replaced.

Overall:
***This TT is a very Rare Color. I called Audi customer service, I was told that "indeed it was rare, and is 1 of 39  in all of North America (Canada, USA, Mexico).  ***

The TT has 141K miles, however with the new parts and components mentioned above I truly and sincerely feel the car is in really good shape.
It has a PPI Rear Bumper Section.  (I have had a difficult time finding another in the US).
Original Alloy wheels.

The TT drives extremely well!    What does that mean?
It  handles well, even on wet surfaces. > New Tires, New Shocks and Quattro (AWD) system.

Now that the Engine has new Valves, the Head Milled, new gaskets, new seals etc, it performs and responds extremely well!
Moving up through the gears feels strong and responsive. >New Clutch and Shifting forks.
The turbo kicks in as it should, and feels stronger since the coolant hose was replaced.
It stops well and has a good feel: not too loose, not too stiff.

The A/C is ICE COLD (my wife says I freeze her out) :)
The Heat is great (too well for me).
The Heated Seats work fine.

The Head lights are good, as are the tail lights, and side marker lights.

The Audio System is great and the Bose speakers are great too.  Good clean sound, deep bass.

The headliner, seats, and carpets are in great shape. (The drivers side mat has a place where the Heel has worn it a bit)

I purchased for the Car:
  •  Owners Manual off EBAY a few years back (did not come with one), which is included.
  • Service Manual last year, Hard Cover, which is included.
  • Radio Removal Tools, which is included.

Comes with 2 Keys (Key Fob Device).

History of the TT:

I am the 3rd owner of the TT. (based on the Car Report)
Made in Hungary, Shipped to Utah where I presume the TT lived.
It was sold and "moved" to Vermont, and "lived" there for a time.
I purchased it from a Ford Dealership in Vermont and had it shipped to me here in Georgia.
It has been Garaged every night since April 2009.

Concerns
  • The front chin spoiler has a crack, which is how I got it back in 2009.  (I have been looking for a new chin spoiler to replace it, but was at the bottom of my list).
There are chips in the paint:
  • above the windshield where it meets the roof
  • Drivers Door where the latch is.
  • on the front bumper & hood(I suppose it had been down several gravel roads before I owned it)

The PPI rear bumper
  • has a lot of little paint (surface) cracks in the nooks and crannies ( was this way when purchased, no idea why they occurred)
  • The PPI rear bumper is missing the two pocket "fin" inserts based on the photos I have seen of them on line.
  • In place of these inserts are mesh screen with a black plastic backing, now painted black. It was this way when I purchased it.
The Instrument Cluster:
  • Many online forums have mentioned a huge concern with TT's  having  instrument cluster problems/ failures, this one has a few things/ quirks with it.  I am not replacing it, as everything "works".
  • Fuel Gauge:  It works, as does the yellow warning icon on the Multifunction display, and audible "beep" when you get low on gas, however the Analog Dial only "travels" from past full to 1/2 a tank.
  • (I asked if I could replace just this gauge, but you have to change the entire panel). As I said it works just a bit quirky.
Med Kit Compartment
  • The Med-Kit compartment door latch broke off when my 6 year old son (then 4) found it.  I have not been worried about it so I left it.
  • The Med-Kit is there and complete.
Rear Luggage Compartment
  • As I mentioned above I had to purchase a Cargo Cover Lid, as it was not with the car when I bought it.
  • I just bought a TT Jack
  • I cannot find a  Used JACK COVER.  It was not on the car when I got it.
  • I am not sure if the foam tray around the spare tire is complete... not sure.
  • Rear Lid Light Assembly Housing cracked but functional. I have not ordered the part.
Drivers Side Mirror
  • it  has a small vibration, and I am not sure why, as it "slews" in all directions with the electronic control in the drivers door. The passenger mirror is fine.
Six CD Changer
  • For reasons unknown to me some of my CD's can't load/ cue up from the six magazine cd holder at certain times. I have loaded up 6 CD's and had no problems, but others don't feed. ( no idea)?!!!
Drivers Side Floor Mat
  • Small worn spot where the heel would rest on the ma
End of Concerns

Shipping:
Buyer is responsible for Shipping.
I will email with the buyer on specifics.

Final Remarks:
The TT is a good car, safe, performs and handles well.
I have cared for the car as best as I could and put a substantial amount of new parts into the car in the 3 years I have owned it.
It has been maintained well: washed, waxed, garaged kept, new tires, etc. and regular oil changes.
I will miss the "Orange Jet".

Audi getting ready for an entire line-up of PHEV models

Sat, Jul 12 2014

Despite years of researching any number of standard ICE alternatives, it's becoming clear that different automakers are starting to throw their weight behind their advanced-powertrain technologies of choice. For instance, Toyota is gearing up for its first production hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle next year. Nissan continues to preach the gospel of the battery-electric engine. For Audi, plug-in hybrids appear to be the way to go. The German automaker plans to have a plug-in hybrid version of every one of its models by the end of the decade, UK's Autocar reports, citing comments Audi research and development head Ulrich Hackenberg made at a recent launch event for the A3 Sportback E-Tron. Hackenberg spelled out two variants of the powertrain, including one front-wheel drive version that pairs an electric motor with a 1.4-liter gas engine (this is the version used in the A3), and another to be used for four-wheel-drive vehicles in which an electric motor drives the rear wheels. We couldn't get more information from Audi representatives here on the A3 Sportback E-Tron launch ourselves, and an Audi spokesperson said in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company wasn't commenting further on its plans for plug-in hybrid powertrains in more models. Audi has started pre-sales of the A3 Sportback E-Tron in Germany, pricing the car at about $51,000 with deliveries to start sometime this winter. The vehicle puts out 204 horsepower and can go as far as 31 miles on electric power alone. An exact date has not been set for importing that plug-in to the US, but it will happen some time next year.

Audi shows off the Prologue Avant Concept as a plug-in hybrid

Wed, Feb 25 2015

The Audi Prologue Avant Concept goes in a different direction than the Prologue coupe, in more ways than just its five-door wagon body. The coupe was first shown at the LA Auto Show with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8, then went redux at CES as a hybrid with a total of 677 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque. The only-slightly-larger Prologue Avant sticks with the hybrid but gets the system from the Q7 E-Tron quattro, meaning a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 TDI with 353 hp and a 100-kW electric motor strapped to the eight-speed transmission. Total output is 455 hp and 553 lb-ft, pure electric range is 33 miles, and 0-62 miles per hour comes in 5.1 seconds. The forward section of cabin with its screen-based Tie Fighter displays and controls comes over from the coupe, as well as the four individual seats, but the Avant lavishes attention on rear passengers in ways not possible in the two-door. They also get a screen on the pass-through center console for convenience controls, and detachable OLED screens - a la the detachable tablets in the Q7 - with which they can send information to the front occupants. As a traditional Audi avant is to a coupe relative, the Prologue Avant is all about bringing the family along on the digital highway. We'll see it at the Geneva Motor Show next week, and Audi is again talking up how the design language will migrate to production cars. It also makes noises in the press release below about near-production many of the technologies are in the concept, so it looks like there could be all sorts of Easter Eggs on the way from the Ingolstadt brand. CO2-neutral* Audi A3 G-Tron goes on sale in Germany

Thu, Feb 13 2014

The Audi A3 Sportback G-Tron has been on our natural gas-powered radar since it was unveiled at last year's Geneva Motor Show. Just before the big show starts up again this year, Audi put the new G-Tron vehicle on sale in Germany today, starting at 25,900 euros ($35,400 US). Anyone who opts for the Audi e-gas fuel card will be able to cruise the Autobahn knowing that their emissions will be CO2-neutral. That's because Audi has built an e-gas plant in Werlte in Lower Saxony, Germany that creates a synthetic methane that is compatible with natural gas from a process that uses "green electricity" to "[bind] as much CO2 as is released when the Audi A3 g-tron is driven in gas mode." Your own A3 G-Tron doesn't burn the carbon-neutral fuel directly, but the automaker will track how much is spent using the fuel card and make sure "that exactly this amount of Audi e-gas is fed into the German natural gas network." Audi charges 14.95 euros a month to use the card. Burning that e-gas in the A3's 1.4-liter TFSI engine can put out 110 horsepower (you can also burn regular natural gas or gasoline) and offers fuel economy of between 3.2 and 3.3 kilograms of gas per 100 kilometers on natural gas Audi A3 g-tron: Advance sales get the green light Ingolstadt, 2014-02-13 Audi A3 Sportback g-tron available to order from February 13 CO2-neutral mobility with the Audi e-gas fuel card Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: "Audi e-gas is an important pillar of our sustainability strategy" The Audi A3 g-tron is all set to hit the roads. Advance sales at dealerships in Germany will kick off on February 13. The basic price will be 25,900 euros. Using the Audi e-gas fuel card, customers can opt for Audi e-gas to power their A3 g-tron without impacting the environment if they wish. The Audi A3 g-tron forms part of a new, integrated and sustainable mobility concept from the brand with the four rings. Its 1.4-liter TFSI engine developing 81 kW (110 hp) can be operated using either natural gas, e-gas generated by Audi or gasoline. In pure e-gas mode the g-tron is entirely CO2-neutral. Audi e-gas is a synthetic methane that is produced at the Audi e-gas facility located in Werlte in Lower Saxony, Germany – the world's first industrial power-to-gas plant. An A3 Sportback g-tron fueled by Audi e-gas is currently the most environmentally friendly form of long-distance mobility.
