1997 Acura Integra LS with J32A2 Type-S Swap

Up for sale is a one of a kind Acura Integra. This clean 1997 Integra is equipped with a V6, 3.2 Liter TL Type-S motor! 260hp and 232lb-ft of torque are unmatched in the world of 4-cyclinder vehicles. This Integra sounds mean, and has the power to back it up! As you can see the hood has been custom fabricated, allowing for this rare swap to sit exposed to the near-by on-looker. The J-swap is an uncommon swap to see, let alone own. This is your chance to save the hassle of building one, and own it today! This car is truly exciting to drive, and guaranteed to turns heads where ever you go!

History:

I purchased this car several years ago from a friend who was leaving for the Army. He originally completed the J32A2 swap, with intensions for track use only. Over the past 3 years I have put this car back together for weekend enjoyment, not just track use. There are still several loose ends that need completed, as I have not fully completed this build. Here is your chance to complete several loose ends and take pride in completing the build, and not just purchasing it. This Integra starts and runs as if the it were brand new! The motor has low miles and is very reliable, starts every time, doesn't burn oil, no smoke or idle issues, and pulls harder than any Honda I’ve driven.

The full car harness was originally converted to a 2002 Acura TL automatic. The motor was later upgraded to a 2002 TL Type-S motor. The issue is this vehicle has an automatic ECU on a 2003 V6 Accord 6-speed transmission. The ECU thinks the vehicle is in neutral and will not engage the VTEC or reserve lock-out. I cannot change the ECU without having it chipped to bypass the factory ignition immobilizer. These issues can be correctly easily with the AEM ECU, or CL Type-S ECU and 6-speed engine harness. The car runs and drives great, only lacking VTEC at the moment. I do not have time or desire to complete this vehicle, and would like to pass it to someone with the excitement for unique Hondas. I am currently in school full time, and work full time on top of building two other cars; my loss is your gain. This car is truly in great condition, and about 95% complete. You will also be hard pressed to find a green Integra that doesn't have tan interior as well. If you’re into unique builds, than this is the car for you!

Acura NSX GT3 swings through New York en route to the track

Wed, Mar 23 2016

Supercars are developed for the road, but sometimes the prospect of putting them on the track proves just too tempting to pass up. McLaren found out just that with the legendary F1, and now its racing partner Honda is doing the same with the new Acura NSX GT3 you see here. Unveiled here at the 2016 New York Auto Show, the NSX GT3 is based closely on the road-going version, but with several key differences. For starters, it ditches the trick hybrid all-wheel-drive system, not unlike the Type R we're expecting to follow. It keeps the 3.5-liter V6, but purely in twin-turbo guise (with no electrical boost in sight), driving the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox instead of the nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. The aluminum space frame carries over, but comes draped in extensively modified bodywork with more extreme aero to keep it cool and glued to the track. Since it's been designed to FIA GT3 regulations (and not the more advanced GTE), we shouldn't expect to see it competing at Le Mans against the new Ford GT (among others). But it will be in prime position to take on championships like the Pirelli World Challenge, Blancpain Endurance Series, and even the lower GT300 class of Japan's own Super GT series. Wherever it competes, though, it positively looks the business even sitting still, and we're looking forward to seeing it run. Acura Unveils NSX GT3 Racecar in New York Mar 23, 2016 - NEW YORK, NY - Twin turbocharged NSX supercar to campaign in North American competition starting 2017 - NSX slated to undergo homologation this fall as an FIA GT3 class racecar - Racecar body to be built by the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio, the exclusive manufacturing home to the all-new Acura NSX supercar; engine to be produced in Anna, Ohio Acura took the wraps off a NSX GT3 racecar today at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, announcing its intention to campaign the twin-turbocharged NSX supercar in North America starting in 2017. The NSX is currently undergoing testing and slated for homologation as an FIA GT3 class racecar this fall. The unveiled Acura NSX GT3 racecar featured custom bodywork and aero components including a large deck wing spoiler, underbody diffuser and enlarged hood vents for efficient engine cooling.

New 2022 Acura MDX platform to underpin future Hondas

Mon, Feb 15 2021

The 2022 Acura MDX introduces a new platform to the Acura and Honda lineup called the Global Light Truck Platform, and it's currently exclusive to the MDX. The new 2021 Acura TLX is also built on a totally new platform that isn’t shared with any other Honda or Acura. Going further back, when the redesigned 2019 RDX debuted, Acura said that model was built on “a new-from-the-ground-up, Acura-exclusive platform." ThatÂ’s three totally-new and Acura-exclusive platforms in a short time period, and it got us thinking. What is Acura up to here?  Most manufacturers these days are increasingly going in the exact opposite direction. VolkswagenÂ’s MQB architecture underpins everything from the hot hatch GTI to the gigantic Atlas. ToyotaÂ’s TNGA platform has multiple sizes/versions, but Toyota still considers them related and will tell you that TNGA is the basis of cars from the Corolla on up to the Highlander, plus the Lexus UX and ES. You can find similar stories all across the industry, in both luxury and non-luxury brands. Acura, on the other hand, appears to be taking a totally different approach. To get some clarity on strategy, we reached out to Acura. The answers are multifaceted, but Acura says it's spending money where it pays dividends for performance — but there's also more sharing between models than it might look like on the surface. “The definition of what constitutes a 'common platform' varies by automaker,” Acura exclusively told Autoblog during a wide-ranging e-mail interview involving the input of numerous engineers and product planners. “For us, the most fundamental value is to maintain the same carry points throughout production and enable us to produce different vehicles in the same manufacturing environment.” As an example, the TLX and RDX feature similar carry points in the chassis to enable their production on the same line, but thatÂ’s where the two diverge. “The TLX is different in that it has a bespoke platform that is not shared with any other Acura or Honda vehicle,” Acura says.

Honda confirms 2014 Odyssey and Acura MDX for New York

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Look beneath the seats of a Honda Odyssey and you'll likely find a handful of that iconic loop cereal loved by toddlers nationwide. And to show that Honda understands its minivan's target market, it is using the breakfast staple to announce its plans to reveal the updated 2014 model at next week's New York Auto Show. While the announcement is creative, it unfortunately lacks much in the way of information, leaving us with little more than a vague teaser alluding to "some innovative new features."
As expected, Honda has also confirmed we will see the production version of the 2014 Acura MDX in New York. We expect the 2014 MDX to look very much like the prototype we saw in January at the Detroit Auto Show with only slight differences. The 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 will be offered with all-wheel drive or, in a first for MDX, front-wheel drive.
You'll find the official press snippets for both below, and we'll have live images and details on both from the New York show. Until then... Cheerio!
